Matt Harvey: Jokes About The Time I Got Detained In America & Other Stories

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars
Tucked away down a side street in Collingwood is probably the most mystical and prettiest venue for the entire festival season-Trainscendence.
It is here we meet Matt Harvey, third runner up in an Ed Sheeran look a like contest.
The moment he stands under the cloud covered ceiling, Matt garners laughs straight away. He’s instantly likeable, and builds rapport with such ease you almost want to shout out during the show and engage in the conversation.
Beginning with telling the audience about his travels as a comedian and potential drug mule, for anyone that has travelled to America his show is relatable. He is the whitest guy ever and he leans into that with a little self deprecation, which makes us question- How the fuck did this guy get detained in America?
It’s not a question of what shit Matt finds himself in, it’s a matter of how deep the shit is, and how he gets himself out of it. Whether he’s chasing Spiderman or being interrogated by customs his adventures are funny ones. Harvey reminds us why live comedy is so good- you never know what is going to happen next.
Life is Matt’s inspiration for his show, and he makes it a bloody funny one at that. It’s a series of misadventures, that at times will make you clench your butt cheeks hoping he doesn’t end up in a Singaporean prison.
Harvey is one of those people that has the unique ability to tell unthinkable stories and make them funny. His delivery is sensational (especially his reactions to audience members laughing at his misfortune ) and his disbelief at how comedic his own life is at times is genuinely funny. It’s like Matt can’t believe himself what he is telling us actually happened to him and his disbelief is part of what makes the show so funny.
Harvey is a delightful comic with some of the most fucked up life experiences that you just want to hear more- he could easily talk for another hour and have us hanging on every word.
It begs the question- how the heck has the whitest Ed Sheeran look a like ended up in these situations.
A fantastic show and a must see before the festival wraps up.
