Calling all doomsday preppers, the soundtrack for the end of the world is here. Lachlan X. Morris is Newcastle’s self-proclaimed ‘psychedelic dad-rock’ artist and today presents you his sophomore album Premeditations, a bundle of glaring guitars and warbling synths taking us straight to our demise.

Premeditations is 70s psychedelic, prog-rock inspired and chocked to the brink with big, emotional guitars, complex instrumentation and party anthem hooks. The 10 tracks question our overruling impulses and obsession with technology, and how that is interfering with genuine human connection. The album takes us on a journey and challenges us to question what we know about how we live…and might just have hidden a satanic message in reversed tracks.

Opening with inquisitive picking guitars, first single ‘Turpentine’ explores romance and relationships in a digital age and not knowing who you are sharing yourself with. Charging forth with a solid rock fundaments and solid guitar stabs create a thoughtful and purpose filled rock track.

Second single ‘Stray Dog’ fuses energetic drums, classic rock formations and psychedelic synth lines to create an immersive listening experience, and an instrumental outro destined to leave you in a lucid state. ‘Stray Dog’ premiered on Speaker TV, boasted plays on triple j Unearthed radio and was added to rotation on FBi Radio.

Title track ‘Premeditations’ is front row centre on the album. The pacing drums and pulsing bass drive the track right into the middle of the dancefloor. Trickled with colourful synth lines ‘Premeditations’ is a sure dancefloor anthem. ‘Sun Shedding’ is a sweet instrumental overture that makes your head involuntary sway side to side, taking elements of the album and perfectly introducing the listener into the work. ‘1st World Bros’ opens confidently with epic guitars riffs, giving off a sense of righteous purpose, and challenges the selfish, toxic relationships and greed.

Running on its grooving bass, ‘Body N Soul’ is about finding life’s greatest pleasures through the simplest things and living within your means. ‘Bloodhounds’ changes pace with romantic lines borrowed from jazz and vocals phrasing paying homage to classic blues. The feel of the track plays a clever juxtaposition to the meaning behind the track, which explores paranoia and dismissing non-constructive opinions.

‘Hands in Your Pocket’ is a solemn tune perfect for driving solo, windows down a baron country road. Tackling a human condition to suffer in silence, the honesty in Morris’ vocals paired with airy guitar lines make a romantic track filled with solace and leaves you with a beckoning need to make better choices. ‘Turnstile’ is a track driven around dramatic emotional changes. The upbeat rock track challenges the human experience of feeling on top of the world one minute, and not being able to recognise yourself the next. ‘Gluttony A.D.’ harbours Morris’ doomsday aesthetic in a track, with a thumping rock instruments, the visceral track challenges how society would cope should all technology fail, 21st century greed and the end of the natural world.

Support for Morris’ album is clear, as the artists reached out to his community with a Pozible campaign, and proudly reached his target for crowdfunding his first run of Premeditations on vinyl.

Although the name might not sound familiar, Lachlan X. Morris is no stranger to the music scene. Morris started skipping around the local circuit with his high school band The Guppies, who were finalists in triple j’s prestigious Unearthed High in 2011. The Guppies toured with the likes of Birds of Tokyo, The Rubens, and played at Groovin The Moo, Fat As Butter and Bigsound 2012.

Premeditations is fundamentally about technology and how it affects our relationships and emotions. Full to the brim with 70’s style psych rock /prog rock aesthetic, Premeditations is a nostalgic pop album tracking society’s obsession with technology and greed. Self-proclaiming the sophomore LP as ‘doomsday pop record’, if this is the soundtrack for the end of the world, I’ll be the first one in line.

Multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer Graham The Grand returns with a new single off his debut project ‘I Don’t Know Why I Feel The Way I Do’ called ‘Go’ that has been premiered through the AU review and is now available on all platforms. After moving from his hometown of Brisbane down to Melbourne to follow his passion of music, Graham The Grand is ready to release the music that he has spent all year creating.

With a sound comparable to EDEN and even a touch of our home-grown KIAN, Graham The Grand brings a DIY talent that has seen him be able to create and produce the exact sound that he has envisioned. Sourcing inspiration from artists like nothing,nowhere., EDEN and Jeremy Zucker   that has created an indie/pop/hip-hop fusion of storytelling honesty. ‘I Don’t Know Why I Feel The Way I Do’ extrapolates the hardships faced by Graham The Grand on his ongoing journey with anxiety and depression – a theme that ripples through the subject matter of each song on the project.

‘Go’ delivers a nostalgic down-tempo melancholic reflection on the experience Graham The Grand has had with another. Filled with light guitars, a mellow synth layer and a kick drum coupled with rolling percussion, ‘Go’ provides a simple and powerful arrangement that pushes Graham’s Kian-like vocals to the front of the mix. Showcasing a raw emotion that captures the listener.

Rach Brennan & The Pines promise a sound that is completely their own; a quirky symbiosis of jangly indie-pop with a roots music aesthetic. The singer-songwriter’s sunny spirit is ever-present in the band’s music and captivating live performances.

Rach’s authentic indie-roots pop stylings have captivated audiences both in her home country of Australia and abroad. In 2015 Rach took her music on a solo endeavor to Europe, playing a string of 27 shows across 10 countries.

Upon returning home to Geelong, Rach Brennan & The Pines released the single “Weapon of Love”.

Who the Fxck is SCARLXRD? This British artist is almost completely unknown to DJs and MCs in the UK rap scene. SCARLXRD has released mixtapes such as; Savixur, Annx Dxmini, Sxurce Xne, LXRD, Rxse, Chaxsthexry, Cabin Fever and LORDSZN. SCARLXRD released his latest mixtape entitled ‘DXXM’ in May of 2018.
Despite this, he has a massive global fanbase and the video for his breakthrough track Heart Attack which has had over 35 million views – not bad for someone who has only been rapping for just over a year.

He’ll be touring Australia for the first time as part of Good Things Festival and will headline two sideshows in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Mumford & Sons are pleased to share the video for their new single, “Guiding Light”.

Directed by Joe Connor (Sam Smith, Coldplay), the video was filmed outside the Tate Modern in London on 20th September, when the band performed an impromptu live set aided by a selection of their fans and passers-by alongside the River Thames.

A 100 strong group of fans were selected at random and invited down to London to meet the band. Information provided was scarce; there would be filming involved and fans would need to arrive in good voice. Following brief rehearsals, everyone descended onto the Southbank to film a live performance where the fans took the chorus. A video was made..

‘Guiding Light’ is the first single to be lifted from Mumford & Sons’ fourth album Delta. Available now on pre-sale, the album is released on the 16th November via Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records. It was produced by Paul Epworth and recorded at London’s The Church Studios.

The band recently debuted the single in the US, live on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” featuring special guests The Roots. Watch the performance HERE.

In celebration of the album, the band will embark on an extensive 63-date worldwide arena tour this year, featuring a groundbreaking in-the-round stage design. Tickets are on sale now via https://www.mumfordandsons.com/live.

The tour kicks off in Dublin next month on 16th November, the same date as Delta is released.

The band will play to an incredible 820,000 fans across the world.

The six month run routes the band up and down the UK, followed by a brief stop in the US and Canada ahead of Christmas.
