Lifeblood are a chaotic hardcore band from Brisbane, Australia. Today they are set to “expand” their horizons and their reach into the world with the announcement of their brand new single “Expand” and their new EP, “The Air in My Lungs”. The new EP will see its release in to the world on Friday October 12th, 2018, with Expand being the first taste of it, available this Friday August 24 on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and all good streaming outlets.

The single was spun on triple j’s Short Fast Loud Wednesday night and then added to high rotation to 24/7 metal/heavy station, The Faction and the video premiered online at killyourstereo.

Formed in 2015 through a shared love for bands such as The Chariot, Norma Jean and Every Time I Die, the band quickly recorded and released their demo ‘Send Me Far Away’ and began subjecting audiences across the east coast of Australia to their particular brand of abrasive music. They have shared the stage with bands such as She Cries Wolf, Deadlights, Apate, Underminer, Wraith, The Gloom In The Corner and Vitals.

Vocalist for the outfit, Dylan Clark, spoke of the band’s excitement. “This has been a while coming – we have been playing a bunch of shows lately and holding on to this record to wait for a good time to kick this off – we are hyped to get this into people’s ears – it’s the stuff we are most proud of so far in our career.”

Lifeblood will release this, their debut EP, “The Air In My Lungs” on October 12. The EP was recorded and mixed by Troy Brady (ex-The Amity Affliction) and mastered by Scott Simpson (Alpha Wolf). Sonically, “The Air In My Lungs” brings abrasive and dissonant tones, while simultaneously exploring the world of atmospheric and ambient textures. This foundation leads the way for lyrical content of a depressing nature, battling inner turmoil and trying to remain calm under tremendous adversity.

The first track “Expand” deals with themes of feeling inadequate as a human and failing to complete the most basic of tasks, with that feeling of inadequacy constantly building up and never being released. The music video, shot by Nick Hargans, depicts how easily we can be our own worst enemy – and that we should cut ourselves some slack – our lives and our problems really are not that bad.

Hot on the heels of impressive first and second announcements, the 21st Queenscliff Music Festival has unveiled the latest artists joining the line up for 2018.

Now playing between Friday 23 – Sunday 25 November will be the likes of Australian music legends The Black Sorrows with Vika & Linda Bull, festival favourite Vince Peach, singer-songwriter Al Parkinson, duos The Twoks and This Way North, bluegrass five-piece The Collingwood Casanovas, hip-hop-rock trio The Cool Calm, Sydney blues artist Jesse Redwing and alt-country couple Montgomery Church. Nahko and Medicine for the People’s energetic violinist Tim Snider (USA) will also be coming Down Under to showcase.

Queenscliff Music Festival are also excited to announce the Festival of Small Halls will be coming to Queenscliff this year. The Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours that takes the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists and sends them on the road to tiny halls in communities all over Australia. It is produced by Woodfordia Inc, this year in partnership with QMF. The artist line-up for Small Halls incorporates one Australian artist and one International touring artist, and in 2018 QMF will host Juno-nominated Canadian folk-pop duo Madison Violet and growling Aussie blues-folk troubadour Harry Jakamarra.

Dutch live-act and producer Feiertag has teamed up with prolific UK rapper KinKai to create the second single from the forthcoming ‘Virtues’ EP, titled ‘Lighter Day’. The single is set for release via Majestic Casual Records on 23rd August.

Feiertag has performed at top festivals across Europe, as well as releasing music on numerous taste-maker labels and garnering support from leading international media for his electronic yet warm production style. With a preference for innovative syncopated rhythms and poppy melodies, alongside the help of unique vocal features, Feiertag has created a distinct voice for his music.

‘Lighter Day’ showcases a gliding array of synths and minimal percussion, setting the base for UK rap talent KinKai to shine. Known for his skillful flow and raw tone, the Manchester based artist reflects on the need to escape the negative in order to attain a better life.

‘Lighter Day’ will be released on August 23rd via Majestic Casual Records.
The ‘Virtues’ EP is due for release in mid-October 2018.

Your friendly neighbourhood Crocs deliver slow jam ‘My Baby’ and are doing what they do best, bringing their fury to festival stages in support!

In contrast to their usual blistering tracks, ‘My Baby’ is a standout – especially live. Sparser than your uncle’s hair, the track keeps the band’s signature sixties flavour with added key change and harmonica – the softer underbelly to Crocodylus.

“We’ve been sitting on this song for a while, but canned it for a bit until people kept asking for it.” Drummer Mikel Salvador continues, “Always a nice song to play when security warns you that you’re about to be kicked off stage because the crowd is trashing the place.”

Ask anyone and they’ll tell you, there’s nothing quite like a Crocodylus gig. Through their prolific touring the rowdy trio has a reputation for a sweaty, rambunctiously good time, rightly earning them a legion of fans and support offers. Today, RAT!hammock prove to be more than just the cutest Google Image search on the Internet, as they present a ‘Groundhog Day‘ inspired video for brand new single ‘June’, which premiered on triple j Unearthed yesterday. 

Introducing Erthlings, the Sydney four piece who today share their debut single ‘Bridges’.

Erthlings are Issy (vocals, keys), Jessame (guitar), Taylor (bass) and Lissa (drums) – four girls that came  together  at  a  music  school  in  inner-city Sydney  at  age  8,  started  writing  songs  by  the  time  they  were  9  and  now,  aged 16,  are  ready  to  share  their  sound.

Their  bond  has  made  their  music  an  innately  collaborative  process. Issy  and Taylor  are  cousins;  Jess,  Taylor  and  Lissa  attended  primary  school  together. All  four  are  intimately  involved  in  every  track,  from  perfecting  each  guitar  riff through  to  the  lyrics  they  pen  together.

The most recent management and label signing to Future Classic, Erthlings’ indie-pop  songs  are  built  from  both  electronic  and  live  sounds.  Some  tracks  leave  open  space  for  Issy’s  icy  vocals  to  take centre  stage,  others  ramp  up  the  drums  and  bass  or  centre  on  woozy  guitar strums.  The  songs  are  also  informed  by  vocalist  Isabelle’s  synaesthesia — a rare  neurological  condition  that  allows  her  to  associate  colours  with  certain musical  notes.

Everything  Erthlings  write  draws  from  personal  experience,  vignettes  of  the things  they’ve  seen  and  those  they’ve  lived  through.  Some  tracks  are  full  of attitude,  strength,  empowerment  and  sass.  Others  delve  into  frustration, disappointment,  failed  friendships  and  bridges  burned — experiences  given voice  by  four  young  women  who  won’t  be  boxed  in. “It’s  never  been  a  weird  thing  for  us  that  we’re  a  young,  all-female  band.  We’ve  never  thought  about  it  twice,” says  Issy.  The  themes  Erthlings  write  about, she  thinks,  are  universal. “I  think  we’re  doing  what  most  people  in  music  are doing.  We’re  just  trying  to  write  about  what  we  know.”

Erthlings will play their debut shows at this year’s Bigsound and will be supporting G Flip across her Sydney dates this September, see dates and details below.

James Van Cooper has announced more tour dates in support of his upcoming independent album release, Coming Home, due for release on 7 September, adding Tamworth, Canberra, and Newcastle to his album launch run.

Headlining the tour, James and his 4-piece band will showcase his new record, Coming Home, a mix of new country rock and edgy alt country cool with plenty of hooks and twangy guitars. Special guest support, Axle Whitehead returns to Australia after starring in US TV productions Shameless and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and will be road testing a new collection of songs accompanied by ARIA award-winning, Carl Dimataga.

James and Axle met in LA while James was there recording his debut album. Axle, a friend of US music producer Scott Campbell, sat in on a few of the sessions and it was during that time that the boys discovered their musical tastes collided. Given their creative like mindedness, they agreed to team up and put together an Australian tour and the timing couldn’t be more perfect for the pair. Audiences can expect the two artists to ricochet off of one another live, both brilliant performers in their own rights, with the shows providing a mouth-watering opportunity to see two of the country’s most formidable guitarists in full flight.

The first single lifted from Van Cooper’s upcoming album, Coming Home, Passing Through, was released in early July, receiving airplay across country radio with the video also airing on the Country Music Channel. The second single from the album, Goodbye My Friends, is set for release and will be delivered to radio on Thursday, 23 August (through Rock This Country).

Coming Home is now available for pre-order via iTunes & Google Play and out on Friday, 7 September, with CDs available at live shows.
