News: Watch Baker Boy’s Official Video for Single ‘Ride’ feat. Yirrmal – Out Now🌮

BAKER BOY OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR ‘RIDE’ FT. YIRRMAL

Baker Boy’s official video for his new single ‘Ride’ premiered last night on YouTube

A new collaboration with his cousin Yirrmal, the funky, soulful, and jaw-droppingly catchy tune is a party song lost to the annals of time, like an Off The Wall single re-recorded in Yolngu Matha. Baker Boy describes Ride as “a new and improved version” of his 2017 Yirrmal collab ‘Marryuna’.

The exuberant music video was directed by Ryan Sauer who after hearing the song for the first time tapped into the fun and energetic vibe to create the imagery of the music clip.

Featuring Baker Boy cruising down some of Melbourne’s most iconic streets and letting loose in a packed nightclub, “The video brings the same excitement that the track does, it’s all about the journey to the club and bringing people together. It was incredible collaborating with Aurie Indianna on the creative direction again, with Ryan, Harry and the crew really bringing the vision to life!,” says Baker Boy.

News: Beartooth Announce New Album ‘Below’ out June 25 Via Red Bull Records. Watch The Video For New Single ‘The Past Is Dead’

BEARTOOTH
ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM BELOW
OUT JUNE 25 VIA RED BULL RECORDS

After thrilling their legion of fans by surprise dropping the blistering and brand new track Devastation —see above for early press praise— gold-selling, Columbus, Ohio-based rock band Beartooth have announced details regarding their fourth studio album Below.

Fans can pre-order the album, which will arrive on June 25 via Red Bull Records, here.

“Below is by far my favourite album I’ve made to date,” says frontman Caleb Shomo. “It covers the dark side of dealing with mental strain during the last year. I gave it all I had — musically and lyrically. Is it too dark? Possibly, but it was as honest as I could be about how I felt. I hope everyone is ready to strap in for a wild ride of head banging and rocking.”

To celebrate the announcement, the band has shared the video for the new song The Past Is Dead. The video features the band in performance mode, which is its most natural state. The members are surrounded by stunning pyrotechnics and an otherworldly demon, who can be spotted in the album cover art pictured below.

Watch the video for The Past Is Dead here:

“The Past Is Dead as one of the first songs written for the album,” Shomo explains. “Various versions have been in the bank for about two years now and it really set the tone for the whole album writing process. The video is meant to depict the beginning of the journey to the deepest and darkest parts of my mind, which was the fuel used to make Below.”

Beartooth harness the sacred and profane, purging inner darkness with a dizzying light. The fearlessly determined and boundlessly creative Midwest powerhouse perfects a sound sought by a generation of bands. Their marriage of colossally catchy choruses and post-hardcore, soaked in sweaty metal, is without rival. Its effect is evident by their religiously dedicated global audience; tours with Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, and A Day To Remember; and a RIAA-certified plaque for their hit single In Between.

Their latest release Below is a pure distillation of rage — weaponizing its deceptively radio-ready bombast to deliver stone cold truth missives, each packed like a bomb with noisy rock chaos.

Below also revels in the darker underbelly of traditional metal, soaked in stoner rock tones and doomy dirge. Beartooth offer no cure. The recovery comes in the process; the journey is the destination. As long as the dueling dichotomy of anguish and cathartic creative expression remain bound together, Beartooth will be here to oversee the show.

Zach Huston — Guitars
Will Deely — Guitars
Oshie Bichar — Bass

ISLANDER
Drop New Track  “What Do You Gotta Lose?”
Accompanying Visualizer Points To Mental Health Resources Through Partnership With Non-Profit To Write Love On Her Arms
““What Do You Gotta Lose?” is a song about hoping for a better tomorrow. I’ve personally dealt with suicidal thoughts in my life and I’ve met a lot of fans that have as well. If suicide could save our lives, we’d all have done that by now. It doesn’t. It only ends the possibility of it getting better. This song is a plea to anyone that hears it to hold on. Joy comes in the morning.” – Mikey

Critically-acclaimed, heavy rock band Islander have released a new track entitled
“What Do You Gotta Lose?” via Better Noise Music.

Check it out here
https://islander.ffm.to/wdygl

The song is a natural next step in the band’s sonic journey, mixing deeply personal songwriting with loud, infectious production.  With lyrics like “Take back the years that you’ve wasted/ Don’t fear tomorrow just face it/ What do you gotta lose?/ You can’t escape the truth,” the new track is a powerful anthem about moving forward in the face of mental health challenges.

The band also released an accompanying artistic visual, produced by 12 Inch Media, featuring the stunning artwork imagery from John Wellman. In partnership with the mental health awareness non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms, the video points viewers to resources for anyone dealing with anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts.  In 2020 alone, TWLOHA reached more than 10 million people monthly and shared over 123 stories of mental health and healing through their blog, podcast, and LIVE events. They also invested more than $205,000 into treatment and recovery to help sponsor 2,600 individual counseling sessions and support 6,480 hours of group therapy for 673 people.

Of this partnership, Chad Moses, Director of Outreach and Experience at To Write Love on Her Arms, said, “This past year has taken so much away from so many people. It has stolen the chance to make memories, a sense of security, hugs, high-fives, and opportunities to be vulnerable. I think it’s going to take some time and some frequent reminders to recall the truth that we were never expected to get through life alone. Every day we wake up is an invitation to live in the presence of others — friends, family, counselors, co-workers; and no disease, circumstance, or challenge waives your right to personal connection. I hear that message so clearly in this new Islander track. Regardless of what you are walking through, there is a place for you here. You belong here, and you are in good company.”

Earlier this year, Islander further set the tone for their vulnerable music path, calling for empathy and connecting with their ever-growing global fanbase with the release of their deeply personal song “The Outsider”. It’s a tribute to why the band gravitated towards rock music in the first place and a reminder to let anyone feeling like an outcast know that they have a place in the community of listeners that the group has formed. They’re currently creating more music to release, solidifying their unique ability to offer meditative art in the craziness of the world.

###

ABOUT ISLANDER
Islander understands that complacency is the deadly enemy of progress. The South Carolina band — Mikey Carvajal, Chris Carvajal, and Erik Shea — refuses to grow stagnant with time by challenging themselves to evolve continually. No two singles are alike, yet the group finds a way to make the combination of their vast influences work together in a manner unlike anyone else. You cannot call what Islander does rock or rap or even nu-metal. They make music that moves people, plain and simple, and that’s all they want to do.

“We’re a very intimate band in that I want to be there and hear people’s stories,” says Mikey Carvajal. I’m not in this to be a rockstar. If that were ever the case, and it were about money or fame, I just wouldn’t do it. I’m only here because I genuinely love people, and I want to see them do good in their lives. I want us to continue to spread love, hopefully on a higher level than before.”

Now a decade into a career built with that mission in mind, Islander continues to grow a global fanbase. The band writes from a place of love and empathy channeled into raucous music that can incite mosh pits and comfort those who feel alone. It’s a delicate balance between chaos and focused effort that only Islander can perfect, and it’s because of that combination that the group remains one of the most versatile names in entertainment today.

“If you speak about real things, they will remain relevant,” says Carvajal. “We all have skin and bones and blood. We’re all human beings trying to make it in this world. The most important thing is being there for people, and our music allows us to do that.”

Islander heads into the new year with high hopes and a bevy of material. Four years of writing and recording has given the band their most diverse and collaborative music to date. From the rallying cries of “Freedom” to the meditative flow of “Crazy Crazy World” and beyond, Islander is creating a space for listeners to process the madness of today and find hope for a better tomorrow.

ABOUT TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS
To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since its start in 2006, they have donated over $2.7 million directly into treatment and recovery and have answered over 210,000 emails from over 100 countries, and traveled more than 3.8 million miles to meet people face-to-face at nearly 3,000 events. Each month, they connect with 10 million people online through social media and their FIND HELP Tool fields 5,000 searches made by people seeking affordable, local mental health resources.

News: Tomahawk | New Album ‘Tonic Immobility’ Out Now

TOMAHAWK
NEW ALBUM TONIC IMMOBILITY OUT NOW

Tomahawk have released their first full-length album in eight years, Tonic Immobility and with it have shared a new video for ‘Predators and Scavengers’, directed, animated and produced by Diego Cumplido.
About the video, Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard/Unsemble) comments,
“Predators and Scavengers” started out as a general observation on the current ecological climate of our planet. Perhaps it could also be applied to the socioeconomic climate as
well?”

About Tomahawk and Tonic Immobility:

Stop if you’ve heard this one before
Four guys from a bunch of other bands walk into a studio and walk out with a record. That’s sort of the story of Tomahawk, but it’s not the whole shebang. The guys—guitarist Duane Denison [the Jesus Lizard, Unsemble, etc.], vocalist Mike Patton [Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantîmas, etc.], drummer John Stanier [Helmet, Battles, etc.], and bassist Trevor Dunn [Mr. Bungle, Fantîmas, etc.]—show up just when we need them. The first time was in 2001 with the self-titled Tomahawk. Following Mit Gas [2003] and Anonymous[2007], they dropped Oddfellows during 2013. It marked their best debut, reaching #9 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart.

The A.V. Club gave it a grade of “A-,” Revolver rated it “4-out-of-5 stars,” and Pitchfork chimed in, “This lurid, thorny, profoundly weird music–just comes tearing out.” All kinds of touring and festivals followed before the members went back to their gazillion other gigs in 2014.

On their 20th anniversary they finally return with their fifth full-length album, Tonic Immobility in 2021. Thawed out from their slumber, they sound like, well, Tomahawk

“Tonic Immobility could just be something in the air we’re feeling,” says Denison. “It’s been a rough year between the pandemic and everything else. A lot of people feel somewhat powerless and stuck as they’re not able to make a move without second guessing themselves or worrying about the outcomes. For as much as the record possibly reflects that, it’s also an escape from the realities of the world. We’re not wallowing in negativity or getting political. For me, rock has always been an alternate reality to everything else. I feel like this is yet another example.”

Tonic Immobility is out now and available in the following formats: digital, CD digipak, and 180 gram LP in textured gatefold packaging. Vinyl variants include standard black and coke bottle clear (5000 available).

**********

ASSEMBLY showcases carefully curated singles, fan favorites, and archival rarities from the Joe Strummer solo catalog, including “Coma Girl,” “Johnny Appleseed,” and “Yalla Yalla” (with The Mescaleros) to his iconic rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” and soundtrack contributions like “Love Kills” (from the 1986 film, Sid and Nancy).  This 16-track compilation features three previously unreleased versions of classic Clash tracks, including the never-before-heard “Junco Partner (Acoustic)” and electrifying live performances of “Rudie Can’t Fail” and “I Fought The Law”, the latter two of which were recorded by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros at London’s Brixton Academy on November 24, 2001. In addition, ASSEMBLY includes exclusive liner notes written especially for this collection by lifelong Strummer fan, Jakob Dylan.

Punk poet, musician, composer, actor, and style icon, Joe Strummer spent his life smashing musical and cultural boundaries both as the singer of The Clash and as a solo artist. His songs sound as urgent and vital today as when they were written. Calling out social injustices and giving a voice to the struggles of the working class, Strummer’s politically charged lyrics struck a chord with legions of fans and the press alike, with Rolling Stone calling The Clash “the greatest rock & roll band in the world.” “People can change anything they want to,” he famously once said, “and that means everything in the world.” Through his art Joe Strummer played his part in shaping the musical landscape of the world and with it left an unrivaled and timeless legacy.

Last year saw Strummer’s iconic life and music commemorated with “A Song For Joe: Celebrating the Birthday of Joe Strummer,” a star-studded global live stream featuring performances and testimonials from an array of friends, fans, and musical followers, including Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Tweedy, Bob Weir, Lucinda Williams, Josh Homme, Tom Morello, Jim Jarmusch, members of The Strokes, Brian Fallon, Steve Buscemi, and many more. The free event benefitted the National Independent Venue Association’s (NIVA) #SaveOurStages campaign to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live event venues and promoters throughout the United States and is streaming now via Joe’s Official YouTube Channel HERE.

George Harrison’s passion for introducing the world to new music expressed itself in May of 1974 when he created his own new label – DARK HORSE RECORDS. The label contained a variety of talented artists on its roster, including George himself. ASSEMBLY marks the first new Joe Strummer title released via the newly relaunched Dark Horse Records, led by Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine.

SMITH / KOTZEN
Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith & The Winery Dogs’ Richie Kotzen
Debut Album OUT NOW!

BMG are proud to announce the worldwide release of the debut album Smith/Kotzen by Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen

Adrian Smith is best known as one of Iron Maiden’s principal guitarists, having also enjoyed success as a solo artist. Richie Kotzen is the frontman for The Winery Dogs as well as having been the guitarist for both Mr Big and Poison during his long and acclaimed career, which has to date seen him release more than 20 solo albums. Both artists are also prolific songwriters.

Recorded on the Turks & Caicos Islands in February 2020, produced by Richie and Adrian and mixed by Kevin “Caveman” Shirley, this nine track opus is a consummate collaboration between these two highly respected musicians who co-wrote all the songs and also share lead vocals and trade off on guitar and bass duties throughout the record.

Exploding with powerful melodies & harmonies, the album embodies the spirited attitude of 70’s classic rock with a melting-pot of influences ranging from blues, hard rock, traditional R&B and more, blending the pair’s backgrounds and life experiences to result in a thoroughly contemporary sound.

News: Josef Salvat | ‘The Close/Le RĂ©veil’ | New EP Out Today

Today, Josef Salvat shares his new EP The Close/ Le RĂ©veil. The stunning EP features focus track ‘Carry On’ and the previously released Pt. 1 with tracks ‘First Time’  and ‘Swimming Upstream’ and Pt. 2 with  tracks  ‘Peaches’ and ‘One More Night’.

Josef recently shared live sessions of previously released tracks from the EP including ‘First Time’, ‘Swimming Upstream’ and ‘One More Night’ performed immaculately in the intimate setting of St Matthias Church, London, and ‘Peaches’ performed at London’s The Playground Theatre.

Discussing the making of the EP, Josef says: “The Close/ Le RĂ©veil was written in the last week of August in my lounge and produced across the first two weeks of September. The urgency of it was in part a response to the stagnancy of 2020, and in part a response to it being the first time I’ve written music to directly process emotion, rather than reflect upon it after the fact. I essentially wrote my own breakup playlist.

“The title alludes to the well-worn cliche of endings being beginnings. The songs are loosely structured around the various phases of grief after an ending, and aim to ‘close the book’. The project as a whole, and its creation, represents the release from that and the awakening that comes after, ‘le rĂ©veil’.

“The lead track from this EP, ‘First Time’ looks at the enormous and overwhelming experience of first love and first loss. ‘Swimming Upstream’ is about two people trying but failing, as the past haunts the present and distorts reality after the fantasy of newness fades. It’s a song of regret and sadness, wrapped in a sense of injustice and resentment.

“The EP gets gradually lighter. ‘One More Night’ is about missing the sex, ‘Peaches’ about realising mistakes and understanding that you have to grow yourself, ‘Carry On’ is half nostalgia/half acceptance, an understanding that time passes and all you can do is wait, and finally ‘I Miss You’ is about memorialising something that, even if it wasn’t right, was beautiful and deserves a longer life than it got, which essentially is the purpose of the whole project.”
