News: PhaseOne releases new single ‘Enemy’ featuring Shane Told from Silverstein!

PhaseOne releases new single ‘Enemy’ featuring Shane Told from Silverstein!

Aussie bass artist PhaseOne is back with a brand new collaboration – a new pop punk/dubstep banger entitled ‘Enemy’ – and it features vocals from the vocalist from Silverstein – Shane Told!

The track is available now on all good digital outlets through Disciple Records and can be pre-saved at linktr.ee/disciple. The video for the pop punk//emo/dubstep single features Shane Told performing the track (filmed in Toronto) with a storyline playing out between a couple on a Los Angeles beach, with the couple turning on each other through the clip.

PhaseOne rolled out the announcement for this new single on Wednesday, with a cross-posted trailer for the single alongside Silverstein and record label Disciple Records, with a massive response!

It is such a dream come true for me to collaborate with Shane,” PhaseOne said. “To work with such a legend of the scene, who has been fronting Silverstein for 20 years now, was such a pleasure – and he absolutely killed it!

PhaseOne is currently in his home country Australia (he was born in Sydney, NSW) playing some shows, but currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He will play two shows in Queensland, Australia in January – Saturday January 23 at Mackay’s McGuire’s Hotel and at Brisbane’s The Triffid on Monday January 25.

This isn’t PhaseOne’s first foray into having featured vocalists/musicians hand-picked from the world’s best heavy music acts – his previous album Transcendency can be purchased/streamed at https://disc.fanlink.to/transcendency and featured three cuts specifically for heavy music fans – one with Northlane, one with Periphery and one featuring Thy Art is Murder’s CJ McMahon!

Last year, Silverstein signed over to Australia’s UNFD record label, released their new album ‘A Beautiful Place to Drown‘, and played at Unify Gathering in 2020.

PhaseOne
‘s new single ‘Enemy’ featuring Shane Told from Silverstein is out now – pre-save it at linktr.ee/disciple.

Conceptualised by Mushroom Group’s Michael Gudinski together with Visit Victoria 2021 SOUNDS BETTER TOGETHER has been staged to mutually benefit both the music and tourism industries, two of the most negatively impacted throughout 2020.

Chairman and Founder of the Mushroom Group, Michael Gudinski, said: “Musicians have been busting to get back on stage before real live audiences and it’s fantastic that we can stage these concerts at such amazing locations and iconic venues across Victoria.  The phenomenal success of last year’s Music From The Home Front highlighted a huge appetite from the public for live music on television and I’m thrilled that with this Nine broadcast everyone across Australia has an opportunity to experience the 2021 SOUNDS BETTER TOGETHER shows, even if they can’t be at them in person.”

Nine Program Director, Hamish Turner, said: “We’re honoured to be able to team up with Mushroom Group and Visit Victoria to broadcast this incredible initiative. Live music is such an important part of Australian culture. It gives a platform to so many talented musicians and brings joy to the audience. I hope by broadcasting 2021 Sounds Better Together on Nine, we can remind audiences of their love for live music and that we have hope for a better year for all ahead. We’d also encourage our viewers to get out and explore all that’s great about Victoria, especially after the particularly tough year the state endured.”

Nine host David Campbell will be joined by radio and television star Jane Gazzo, talented podcaster Kate Gudinski, and Nine News reporter Madeline Slattery for special behind-the-scenes access and artist interviews on the night.

Tune into Nine this Saturday 30 January at 7.30pm, and 9Now 7.30pm AEDT, for an exciting evening of music television complete with special guests, unexpected collaborations… and a few special surprises.

News: L.A.B Get First NZ #1, with New Album ‘L.A.B IV’

L.A.B
Get First NZ #1, with New Album ‘L.A.B IV’
Available via LOOP / AWAL now

“The truth is L.A.B keep it simple, get to the point and consistently deliver the goods” Stuff

While the world relaxed over the festive season, New Zealand five piece L.A.B accelerated to a cracking pace, garnering their first ever #1 album in New Zealand and gold certification, over 9 million streams on Spotify with their fourth studio LP, ‘L.A.B IV’ (December 19). Bringing in the new year playing to 15,000 fans, making history with a #1 album, #1 single, 3 albums in the top 10, 5 x singles in the top 10 in NZ.

The second single from the album ‘Why Oh Why’, has spent five weeks at #1 on the NZ Singles Charts and is certified gold.

The 12 tracks featured on L.A.B IV showcase the styles that have grown to be the L.A.B sound – reggae, funk, soul & blues effortlessly combining. ‘My Brother’, ‘Yes I Do’ & ‘Operator’ all embrace a 70’s funk/soul sound, accentuated by strings composed & performed by frequent-collaborators The Black Quartet. ‘Yes I Do’ & ‘Boy King’ also feature a live-horn section, showing the band becoming more comfortable expanding & pushing their sound.

L.A.B IV was recorded at the band’s home of the Surgery Studios in Wellington with Dr Lee Prebble, with yet another rigorous recording schedule resulting in the band living in the studio for weeks on end. With drummer Brad Kora heading up the production team of Prebble & bass player Ara Adams-Tamatea, the result is an album steeped in nostalgia, while sounding firmly rooted in the modern-day.

‘Why Oh Why’, ‘Boy King’ & ‘No Roots’ all bring L.A.B’s roots/reggae experience to the front, creating tracks which instantly feel like classic summer sing-alongs. ‘Never Give Up’, ‘IJDK’ & ‘My Baby’ bring together the harmonies that the band have become known for, while ‘Early Bird’ & ‘Natural’ show a softer-side.

Embracing the eclectic sound that has seen them grow into one of the most sought-after acts in New Zealand, L.A.B IV further solidifies L.A.B as one of NZ’s hardest-working acts with no signs of slowing down.

April 2021 will see the band return to Australia, with a five-date tour sold-out to a total audience of over 15,000.

The Rubens have gifted fans with ‘Muddy Evil Pain’, the final taste of their forthcoming album 0202 ahead of its release on Friday 12 February. To celebrate their fourth LP, the band have also announced their 0202 Album Launch Series – a 6-date run of regional NSW. The run of shows will kick off in Bathurst on Thurs Feb 4, followed by Morton (Fri Feb 5), Tamworth (Thurs Feb 11), Dubbo (Fri Feb 12), Port Macquarie (Sat Feb 13) before finishing in Thirroul on Fri Feb 20.
‘Muddy Evil Pain’ is an exciting final glimpse into 0202 – an album that sees the band in the driver’s seat, brimming with big ideas, clever production and their most assured sound to date. With 0202 the band have fully transformed into an alt-rock/pop powerhouse and self-produced an album that will have people re-evaluating what they thought they knew about The Rubens.
“’Muddy Evil Pain’ is a good indicator as to how we’ve grown as a band sonically. It’s essentially a folk-gospel song blended with heavily distorted pulsing synths, something we never would have considered doing on our first record but now comes naturally. It’s got so much energy, one we can’t wait to play live.” – The Rubens
An exclusive pre-sale for the 0202 Album Launch Series shows will be made accessible from noon AEDT on Friday 29 January for fans who purchase a $9.99 bundle HERE, which includes a digital download of 0202 and a signed poster. Bundles are available to purchase from now until Fri 29 Jan, 8.00am AEDT (or until allocation has been exhausted). Fans who take up this option will receive their pre-sale ticket link on Fri 29 Jan at midday. General Public tickets going on sale at 8.00am AEDT on Monday 1 February via the band’s website HERE

Cementing their status as a band that continues to evolve as songwriters and push the boundaries of alternative rock/pop, new album 0202 – featuring hits ‘Live In Life’, ‘Time Of My Life’, ‘Heavy Weather’ & current single ‘Masterpiece’,– is a forward-thinking album for a backward year, and an exciting new chapter for The Rubens celebrating the five-piece at their creative peak.

A huge testament to their unwavering talent and ability to constantly reinvent themselves, 0202 marks the start of yet another exciting chapter for the band. “We’re so bloody proud of this album and the way we created it, and we can’t believe how lucky we are to have made it this far. Thanks to all our fans for being there, we can’t wait for you to hear this one!”

Following the second postponement of the band’s ‘Live In Life’ tour due to COVID-19, their biggest headline tour to date, the tour was rebranded to the 0202 Album Tour. The new dates, taking place from April – June, 2021, will see the NSW band play metro cities for the first time since their 2018 LO LA RU album shows as well as regional venues across the 24-date run.

“Our third single has arrived! ‘Rivers’ symbolizes the calmness and at the same time the uncertainty in life, the ebb and flow. The calm water represents peace, and a strong river stream means that you have to face challenges and swim against the tide of life”, comments Simone Simons.

News: Messiahvore To Release New Self-Titled Album

Hailing from Denver, Colorado MESSIAHVORE are set to release their self-titled album via Coffin & Bolt / Golden Robot Records on 26th February.

“MESSIAHVORE‘s first album release features 9 tracks. All the music was recorded live in studio and then the vocals and some extras added after the fact. We were stoked to have tracked all in the same room with one another and bring the music with the natural energy, feedback and volume of our live performances.

The recording was done in Denver in our own commercially run studio known as “The Crash Pad” Bart, the guitarist and singer engineered the recording. We simply set up and test tracked, locked in the tones and let it rip. The results speak for themselves. We are proud of our first effort and are looking forward to sharing it with all the heavy music fans of the world.

Lots of density on this debut release. Thick guitars and bass combined with saturated vocals. Catchy hooks but not overly commercial. The Last Word is an epic instrumental that supplies ambient vibe for days. Betrothed hits hard and is either about overbearing control or Vampires. You can make the call. Cult Worship is one of our favorites and Doublecross starts out with some Sabbath vibe then moves into desert rock territory. MESSIAHVORE mixes elements of groove metal, doom, stoner rock and a bit of industrial to complete the sound.”

Pre-order/pre-save Messiahvore HERE
ABOUT MESSIAHVORE
MESSIAHVORE were only formed in Mid-2018. However collectively members have been working the Denver scene for years. Bart McCrorey Started out in the punk rock outfit St James Gate then joined the local skate rock favourite Frontside Five. Bart played lead guitar and co-fronted the band for a 10-year stent. Jenn began playing bass when asked to join The Blackouts in 2008. The all-female hard rock band that still plays in Denver today. Jenn and Bart asked long-time friend Bailey Cecil to play drums for them. Bailey had a strong background in the stoner and doom scene in the area hailing from fronting Bronze on guitar and drumming in Core of the Earth. Kevin Disney was the first and only guitarist the band tried out. They knew him from a band called The Worth. Kevin supplies an excellent amount of weird mixed with sonic knowhow.

The intent of MESSIAHVORE was to play heavy groove intensive rock that draws from their favourite stoner, doom, and whatever else that is sonically pleasing to them.

It was a fast start for the band, opening for Fu Manchu, Sasquatch, Nebula, Daikaiju and were slated to play with Lord Dying then the COVID hit the states. You know the rest of that story. This led to them buckling down and writing a seven song EP. The band signed to Coffin & Bolt Records which is incorporated with the international mainstay Golden Robot Records.

New drummer Brokk Dagaz and Bart met while recording a band at Bart’s studio The Crash Pad. After working with Brokk, Bart took note and tapped him for a collaboration project called The Bloodaxe released in 2018 that featured Bart on most all the strings and Brokk on drums. The collaboration part was 14 of Colorado’s aggressive vocalist writing and performing on the release. After this venture it was clear that Brokk would be hit up in the future and fortunately he was available and willing to step in.

Brokk comes from a Philadelphia death metal band Nefarious. The dude has chops for days and easily adapted to MESSIAHVORE’s driving style. He has great feel and grooves the shit out of the riffs. A fan of classic metal and an open mind to music, much like the rest of the band, he was the perfect fit to solidify the line-up.

News: System Of A Down To Host ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ Music Video Premiere & Livestream Fundraising Event

SYSTEM OF A DOWN
TO HOST GENOCIDAL HUMANOIDZ MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE & LIVESTREAM FUNDRAISING EVENT ON JANUARY 31

PROCEEDS FROM FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT REHABILITATION EFFORTS FOR ARMENIAN SOLDIERS SUFFERING FROM TRAUMATIC INJURIES

BAND TO GO LIVE WITH SPECIAL GUESTS @ 4AM AEDT TIME

VIDEO PREMIERE @ 6AM AEDT TIME

GRAMMY® Award-winning multiplatinum alt-rock band SYSTEM OF A DOWN reveal the details of a very special Livestream Fundraising Event on Sunday January 31, 2021, culminating with the music video premiere of their 2nd single, Genocidal Humanoidz. The group once again steps up to support humanitarian efforts in their ancestral homeland of Armenia when needed most. The Livestream will be broadcast exclusively on the band’s official YouTube Channel.

In the tragic aftermath of the most egregious violence to affect the area since 1994, soldiers for the Defense Army of Artsakh and Armenia (many of them volunteers) suffered war crimes at the hands of the invaders- Azerbaijan abetted by Turkey and their Syrian mercenaries. These young men, wounded in the conflict, remain in dire need of prosthetics, advanced treatment, and medical care. SYSTEM OF A DOWN is hosting the Livestream in order to raise money to rehabilitate and outfit soldiers who have lost arms and legs with life-changing prosthetic limbs. Additionally, funding will benefit the introduction of groundbreaking laser therapy for the treatment of chemical burns from banned white phosphorous weapons. All proceeds from the Livestream will be donated to this noble cause.

The Livestream launches at 4am Australian EDT time. The band will welcome a roster of guests to join them for interviews. These include representative for Armenia Fund USA Maria Mehranian, Armenian-American musician Sebu Simonian, Good Day LA’s Araksya Karapetyan, Harvard Clinician Dr. Lilit Garibyan (who leads the charity “Face Of Angel” which has established medical laser treatments in Armenia and now aims to provide medical scar laser treatments to soldiers with burn and trauma scars), Armenian Parliamentarian Narek Mkrtchyan, (who is leading the development of a new prosthetic hand lab and initiative with Homeland Defenders Rehabilitation Center), and director Adam Mason of Deep Sky Animation who helped create the Genocidal Humanoidz music video. A special video from Lt. Colonel Sargis Stepanyan from Armenian Wounded Heroes Fund and additional videos of support from VIP friends of the band will be showcased throughout the livestream. Wrapping up the event, the video debuts worldwide at 6am Australian EDT time. Viewers may donate throughout the entire stream on the band’s YouTube channel.

In November 2020, SYSTEM OF A DOWN released new music for the first time since 2005 in order to rally for Armenia. Michael Gudinski, Mushroom Group Founder & Chairman said: “We’re thrilled to be taking 2021 Sounds Better Together to even more venues and regions around this great state. Music lovers will be able to catch incredible performances from some of our country’s greatest artists, and with all tickets under $50, these shows really are going to be something special that I hope everyone can make it along to”.

Victorian audiences showed exactly why they’ve been dubbed the State of music, with tickets to Something for Kate’s show at St Kilda’s Prince Bandroom this Sundayselling out within minutes of going on sale on Tuesday.

Appearing at Monday’s press conference in Melbourne, Something for Kate’s frontman Paul Dempsey said, “We are overjoyed to be a part of this series, the opportunity to play an intimate club show in our hometown is something we have been dreaming of for a year now and it’s going to be very special to take the stage at the legendary Prince of Wales. We can’t wait!”

One of the country’s most respected artists, Ross Wilson is a cornerstone of Australian rock music. With an illustrious career spanning over 50 years, Wilson has been twice inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame; both as a solo artist and as a member of Daddy Cool. From his acclaimed solo work, to fronting Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, Wilson’s work stands the test of time and with explosive on-stage charisma, he’s set to blow the roof off Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal on Wednesday 27 January.

He’s toured with Ed Sheeran, hit the stage at Splendour In The Grass and sold out headline shows around the country; Fergus James is a star on the rise. With his latest single ‘Good Man’, James delivers a world class pop anthem, emerging as a multi-faceted artist ready to take on the world.

Prior to his performance with Ross Wilson at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening, Fergus James will play a special pop-up show at Castlemaine’s Bridge Hotel. It will be first in, best dressed, so Castlemaine locals, get in quickly from 6pm!

Alex Lahey is joined by Scott Darlow at The Espy on Monday. The singer-songwriter has a sardonic streak and flair for crafting relatable pop-punk anti-anthems, which has garnered her fans the world over. She broke through in 2016 with the guitar-based ‘You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me’, which serves up equal portions of hooks and attitude, and followed up with two acclaimed studio albums, 2017’s I Love You Like A Brother and 2019’s The Best Of Luck Club.

Since entering the Australian music scene in 2003, Yorta Yorta descendent Scott Darlowhas been a mainstay of Australia’s Indigenous and independent music industry. The versatile singer-songwriter, guitarist, and didgeridoo player, who signed to Mushroom’s Reclusive Records last year, has sold more than 50,000 albums worldwide and has toured extensively through Australia, Asia and the USA. His just-released single ‘Forgotten Australia’, is a reminder for Australians to embrace their togetherness and come together to celebrate the things that make our country and its people special.

“I’m stoked to be playing with Alex Lahey at the Espy on January 25! The Espy was THE venue I wanted to play as a teenager coming up. To be playing there with an artist as amazing as Alex is unreal, and I can’t wait to get on stage next week! It’s gonna be rad!”, said Scott.

Australian punk rock royalty, The Living Endtake on Melbourne’s stunning Forum next week, alongside Bakers Eddy. The trio has released eight studio albums, most recently 2018’s Wunderbar, have an APRA Award and multiple ARIA Awards under their belt, and have notched up multi-Gold and Platinum singles and chart-topping albums. Known for their infectious energy, they’ll bring the heat when they hit the stage on Wednesday 27 January.

The Living End’s Chris Cheney said, “To say we are delighted at having an actual real life Victorian show booked is an understatement! This is going to be a very special gig for many reasons and we’re thankful to the ‘2021 Sounds Better Together’ folks who made this happen. See you at the gig next week and it will get loud!”

Formed in Wellington, New Zealand, Bakers Eddy’s fun and fast sound quickly grew them a fanbase off-shore. Relocating to Melbourne in 2017, they’ve covered the festival circuit – NYE on the Hill, Festival Of The Sun, and Party In The Paddock to name a few – and shared stages with the likes of The Rubens, Gang of Youths, The Bennies and many more. Bakers Eddy are gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated debut album in 2021.

Bakers Eddy said, “Proper excited to be supporting such an iconic Australian band, The Living End, at The Forum – a venue we have had on our goals list for a while now!”

As well as appearing at the Mt Duneed Estate and Mallacoota shows respectively, exciting emerging Victorian artists Didirri and Mia Wray join forces to play at Warrnambool’s The Whalers Hotel on Thursday 28 January.

Returning to his hometown for a special evening of music, Didirri captivates with his live performance. His ethereal vocals, and poetic, candid songwriting are garnering him global attention from fans and critics.

In 2020, Mia Wray made a grand debut with her single ‘Work For Me’. Her soulful voice has drawn comparison to the likes of Lorde and Meg Mac, but Mia Wray is carving her own path. Released yesterday, Mia’s new single ‘Never Gonna Be The Same’ is a no-holds-barred ode to empowerment, reinforcing her as a talent to watch in 2021.

For years now twin brothers Jack and Patrick Pierce’s high energy duo Pierce Brothers has been a staple of the Australian indie-folk/blues and roots scene, captivating festival goers and headlining sold out venues the world over. Exploding onto the world stage in 2014, the brothers started their journey as buskers before building audiences and touring the world. Their anticipated sophomore album Into The Great Unknown is due for release on March 5, 2021.

Pierce Brothers said, “We’re thrilled to be back onstage playing music after such a massive forced hiatus, and we’re so lucky that we’ve been given the opportunity to do so. It’s amazing that we’ve come together as a community so well to finally be able to put on COVIDSafe events safely and it’s something we don’t take for granted. We’ll also be able to finally play some of the new tunes from our upcoming album which is just so exciting!”

Quickly establishing herself as one of the country’s most exciting new songwriters, Shannen James takes listeners on a dreamy pop journey through the sparkling emotions of youth. Her latest EP Arrows has been embraced by fans and industry alike with radio play across the likes of triple j, triple j unearthed and a combined 2 Million Spotify streams.

Shannen said, Really looking forward to being a part of the Sounds Better Together series along with the Pierce Brothers and playing live again! I’m sure I speak for everyone in saying we’ve all been hanging out for live music to start back up and think it’s going to make for a really special year of shows.”
