Once voted by the readers of Q Magazine as the “greatest front man of all time”, living legend Liam Gallagher will return to Australia and New Zealand in December as he celebrates the release of his massively anticipated second solo record, Why Me? Why Not? (out Sept 20).

Shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland will give Australasian audiences a chance to revel in tracks from Gallagher’s untouchable back catalogue as well as taking in newer cuts from his more recent output.

Also on offer for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane fans will be a stoic support set from independent Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Cinnamon, in the country to spruik his debut album Erratic Cinematic.

We all know the Oasis story by now: Manc lads discover the magic formula, pump out several anthems for a generation, release some of the highest selling (and most loved) albums of all time, define British guitar music, burn out in a blaze of glory…

Now, as we hurtle towards 2020, it’s a sheer delight to hear the unmistakable voice of Liam Gallagher producing music just as timeless as he did at the peak of Britpop’s heyday.

His debut solo album As You Were was released in October 2017, proving to be a critical and commercial success as it sold over 103,000 units in its first week and becoming the ninth fastest-selling debut of the decade in the UK.

Calling it a “debut” may seem a bit strange when we’re talking about an artist responsible for some of the most momentous albums in the history of recorded music, but Gallagher’s solo career to date has very much been about starting again with renewed vitality.

This attitude is on display through As It Were, a documentary released in June this year that documents the release of As You Were and the subsequent soul searching forced upon Gallagher in the wake of the break-up’s of Oasis, Beady Eye and several other personal relationships.

“I’m not doing this to be more famous, I’m f**king famous enough – you know what I mean,” he announces early in the film. “I’m not doing it for the money. I joined a band because I love music.”

With this typically confident catchcry in mind, Gallagher started work on his new record with super-producers Greg Kurstin and Andrew Wyatt, eventually pumping out Why Me, Why Not? and its stomping singles

‘Shockwave’ and ‘The River’. Both replete with oodles of the swagger and bluster that made Liam Gallagher a household name, the tunes are perfect precursors a much-anticipated sophomore release, both going down a treat at his recent Glastonbury performance.

In fact, if that show was anything to go by, audiences in Australia and New Zealand are in for something very special as Gallagher stacks his setlist with some of Oasis’ most well-known tunes and sends the likely lads and ladette’s into Supersonic ecstasy.

News: Wage War drop video for ‘Grave’, new album ‘Pressure’ Out Now through Fearless Records/Caroline Australia T

Florida’s Wage War have released their third album Pressure via Fearless Records/Caroline Australia. The album is the follow up to 2017’s well-received Deadweight and is available here.

Premiering at Billboard over the weekend, they are also releasing the clip for latest single from the record, “Grave”. The track made it’s way to Spotify playlist New Metal Tracks immediately – and previous singles from the record received love from playlists such as Kickass Metal and New Core (for which they made the cover photo!)!

A whirlwind four years set the foundation for such a statement. The group’s 2015 debut, Blueprints, yielded multiple fan favorites with “Alive” cracking 12 million Spotify streams and “The River” exceeding 8 million to date. Meanwhile, 2017’s Deadweight established them as a rising force. News: NADISKO ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE + LYRIC VIDEO TAKE ME AWAY

Electronic masters Nadisko have today announced their iridescent new single Take Me Away, a track made to be spun in the summer (or to heat up the winter months!) out August 9. The group, consisting of Alex Hopkins and Blake Wood, have also released a stunning lyric video to accompany Take Me Away.

Nadisko formed during the Myspace glory days of mid-2008; an era when MGMT’s debut album was being blasted all over the radio and ultimate-cringe head-to-toe flouro attire was widespread. They quickly cemented themselves as premier resident DJs in Sydney, and from there they gained airplay on BBC Radio One for their debut EP, they supported Steve Aoki, Tiga, Uffie and heaps more massive names, remixed Peking Duk’s first EP, and played shows all across Australia, Europe and Mexico. It’s been a wild ride, and the guys are super excited to be back with their new single Take Me Away, as Wood enthuses, “After a four year hiatus, we have developed a more mature sound, using the knowledge that one gains after 50 releases and a love of dance music. We are super keen to release new music and share it with everyone!”

Evocative of electronic dance auteurs RÜFÜS DU SOL and Crooked Colours, Take Me Away is the much-needed antidote to a chilly Australian winter. Hypnotic percussion percolates underneath wistful, beautiful vocals, and it’s a masterclass in electronic dance production and arrangement. Offering a little insight into the inspiration behind the track, Hopkins says, “Take Me Away is an intimate, summery, poolside tune with a hypnotic guitar riff and dreamy soulful vocals. It is a new direction of what we are vibing musically, and in that, something we have only recently tapped into. It was inspired by equality and relationships. With the world being so busy and with so much division, we often struggle and forget to spend time with those closest to us. It was inspired by a very tough time for us in our lives and was used as a form of escapism. It comes back to the idea of a ‘perfect’ dream or idealism of what relationships should be like. It brought us back to the things that are important to us in life.”

Nadisko are a part of the Hot Sunday Records label family, run by Australian DJ and producer Color Castle (Christian Pilot), joining the roster alongside Sidney Charles, Miguel Campbell, Dennis Quin and more. Hand in hand with their label, Nadisko are ready to celebrate their return with Take Me Away. Wood describes how the pair’s relationship has developed over the years and how honing and interchanging their skills has resulted in Take Me Away, saying, “We both work in media and have a penchant for everything television and movies. We first met socially and uncovered a joint passion for music. Alex had been making music since he was 12, from this, I took care of the live element and Alex was mostly production, with these roles changing often over the years. Between this and music, I guess you could say we have a very proactive work ethic after years of relying on each other through various hurdles!”

Found in the quark information of Wollongong, Astrophysical Maser form of techno is scattered with flora and fauna; from bird calls, to the sound of wind in trees, the harnessing and borrowing of natural sound will support your brain’s mitosis. It strays far and wide incorporating a palate of sounds unknown to the genre. His DJ and live sets induce flow states by blending techno and high energy electronic music of a multitude of genres.

Bertie started from humble beginnings playing in London with her pub-party Dance Pants, and now frequents Sydney haunts such as her spiritual home Freda’s. An avid music collector, her sounds range from stomping house in the later night to her signature ethereal nu-wave synth pop reminiscent of sexual elegance and romance. F-U-N is the name of the game.

BRIA is a south coast gal, a presenter on FBi Radio and an all-round music lover. She first got behind the decks at a friend’s party and realised how much fun could be had so she started collecting tracks and was getting gigs soon after. Playing around Wollongong and Sydney, BRIAhas decided sticking to one genre isn’t for her, you’ll find her playing anything from funk/soul/disco to heavier bass and house music.

Caravan is a record collector, DJ and music producer who was born in France and came to Australia over a decade ago. Blending influences such as world and dance music he has released music on Ken Oath Records, Planet Trip and various remixes. His latest release has been supported by the likes of CC: DISCO!, John Gomez, Raphael Top Secret, Lauren Hansom, Millos Kaiser, Esa and Bayete.

Classically trained in piano in Italy and later exposed to electronic music after moving to Melbourne, Chiara has since moved into a well-respected position in the Melbourne electronic music movement through her dedication to a refined DJing technique and production of electronic music. DJing under the moniker Chiara Kickdrum, she has performed at venues across Australia and overseas, supporting international acts such as Kiasmos, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, as well as appearing at Pitch Music Festival, Melbourne Music Week, Meredith Music Festival and Dark Mofo.

Hailing from Melbourne, James and Peter Isaacs are the brotherly duo Donald’s House. Taking influence from Paradise Garage styled disco, early 90s house, Italo and anything with a DMX drum kit, their take on dance music is as refreshing as it is familiar. Much like their productions, their sets are centred around music that’s heart is firmly locked in the 80s.

Gran Trocadero’s maternal grandparents met at the Newtown dance hall and institution called the” Trocadero” located at 69 King St Newtown NSW. He’ll be playing tunes that his grandparents heard blasting from his dad’s car in the 1980s, and songs that parents dislike right now.

Sydney based producer / DJ / engineer/ synth hoarder Francis Zavier has been mixing it up with what can only be described as a homage to late nights spent in the dark recesses of studio and clubs over the world over.

Consuming underground records since his inception, Horowitz the east coast Australian is undoubtedly one of the prolific producer DJs in the heaving techno corner. With an avid auditory vision in his work, the Byron Bay bred artist is holds well-versed sound design and production techniques, shaping truly unique studio output.

Kali is Sydney club life’s saving grace. A seasoned DJ having spent decades in the booth, her unrelenting energy, and elevated taste has masterminded local institution Picnic. Playing quality techno, house and disco at Sydney Festival, Subsonic, Vivid Sydney, Astral’s People’s Summer Dance and Mad Racket, Kali’s music endeavours aren’t limited to after dark. Of course, you can always stream her two Boiler Room sets at any time of the day.

Merph’s taste and selections span across many genres, fueled by her love for research and exploration. Spring-boarding from foundations in left-field house and jazz, she has recently hit her stride extending her reach to all thing’s bass and percs related. Considered as a staple on the local circuit and a well-seasoned opener, recently Merph has been headlining interstate shows Carefree & Daydreams [Melbourne] & Dente [Canberra] as well as recording mixes for Skylab and Beats of No Nation.

Knee deep in the DJ game from his late teens, Mike Who has always looked beyond trends to carve out his lane as a DJ, digger and radio host. Mike’s range let’s him take dance floors in any direction he’s feeling, be it slow burning reggae, digi and lovers’ cuts, street soul, hip hop or unearthed tropical melters all the way through to obscure boogie, disco, broken beat & the soulful side of house music.

From Sydney’s fiercest and dearest club nights through to the underground parties that line New York City’s sub-cultures and beyond, DJ Sveta has been socking it to audiences fresh from behind the decks for almost two decades. While she is celebrated locally with accolades including Best Local DJ from 3D world magazine and Best DJ award in the Best of Sydney 2008 Awards, Sveta has equally made her mark abroad in cities including New York, Paris, Italy, Japan, Copenhagen and Toronto

The solo alias of Russell Fitzgibbon, one half of Sydney electronic artists Fishing, The Ghan is a new outlet for productions on the more intense end of euphoria. His first releases on Body Promise are hypnotic excursions through early morning rhythm, percussive and propulsive, with an always uplifting rave-focussed melodic energy.

Distilling his own brand of modern house, Tunnel Vision is a young enigmatic producer from Wollongong. Pulling inspiration from 90s breakbeat and acid house, Tunnel Vision blends dark melodies with dance friendly rhythms.

Hosting live music gigs across Wollongong with only a gold coin entry, Citrus Sessions will be a party you will never forget!

Taking lessons from science, philosophy, and history, and using them to articulate a vision for humans’ place within the world, Cortex Journal is the ongoing collaborative project of multimedia visual artist and writer Alex Pike and writer Nicolas Ozolins.

Enough Said Poetry Slam began with the six-month Cafe Poet residency at Yours & Owls Café in Wollongong and is now broadening to include poetry activities across Wollongong and the Illawarra. Enough Said seeks to be a home for both emerging and established poets, showcasing local, national and international artists.

Hidden Harvest is a home grown not-for-profit who upskills the Wollongong community by giving them the tools and forks needed to tackle food waste and shape a sustainable food future. They dish up the big conversations about our food system and hope to activate a #MoreTasteLessWaste attitude in your kitchen, today!

Wollongong based community jacuzzi stu. shares a passion for dance music and introducing new themes to the regional electronic scene. Operating regular DJ workshops with the purpose of creating an accessible & encouraging space for women, trans & non-binary music enthusiasts to try their hand behind the decks, these workshops are facilitated at various music festivals and locations around the city.

Lovely Film Lab is Wollongong’s newest and only film lab hand processing and scanning film at a professional level, striving to keep the medium alive and to support the rich, local photographic community here in the Gong! This year Lovely Film Lab will be joining The Local at Yours & Owls, hosting cyanotype workshops and mini exhibitions for both days.

Lovers & Fleurs the Label was created by two best friends and their love of everything silky, lacey and vintage and their frustration at the lack of sustainable fashion choices. L & F is vintage done differently! Through hand picking pieces from ethical sources, their aim to break the cycle of fast fashion and stop beautiful textiles ending up in Australian landfill.

The Ocean Space Collective emerged through a desire to inspire and excite individuals through the blending of Art x Science. As a collective, they want to develop a collaborative community for creatives and academics passionate about the conservation of our beautiful blue planet. Ocean Space is a place where this unique community can focus their efforts on facilitating the development of local conservation projects.

Ovuhm is an all-encompassing art collective, exploring ideas through performance art, movement and other mediums. They are committed to fostering a collaborative working environment and working alongside other established artists who have inspired our practice. As a female-centric group, the development and presentation of new works that engage with contemporary concerns relating to the female identity and gender disparity in the arts is integral to our practice.

Pride Tide is an arts and social night for the LGBTQIA+ community in Wollongong and the Illawarra. The series of events was started in 2015 to address a gap in Wollongong’s nightlife and music scene and has aimed to create a space for LGBTQIA+ and all musicians and punters to socialise in a comfortable and inclusive environment.

An independent zine founded in 2018, Pulp Zine want to bring you the best of Wollongong’s music, arts, and culture – fleshing it out, finding the juicy stuff, keeping the pulp.

Strawberry Visions is an art, party and management agency, proudly based in Wollongong, with a strong focus on community. Their monthly concept night ‘Strawberry Boogie’, aims to celebrate local creative culture, wherever the region. With three years under their belts, they have thrown parties in warehouses, bowlos and backyards and have seen acts like Japandroids, Donny Benet, Tiny Little Houses, Genesis Owusu and Body Type drop by on the way up.

Full-service creative agency in Wollongong’s CBD, Teel Studios’ creative team endeavour to produce only the highest standard of content ready for you to show off to the world.

The Good Times Gathering is an interactive performance that focuses on encouraging the audience to express themselves without fear of judgement and remember that life is profound, but also remarkably amusing. The event is facilitated by the Good Times Crew who break the ice by sharing their own philosophy, music, poetry and comedy.

Queer Space is a creative collective dedicated to creating safer spaces in Wollongong and beyond, running monthly queer parties, trivia nights and drag events throughout the gong/the multiverse.

GET YA ROCKS OFF by name and by nature, it is just what we want you to do as Silverback Touring presents its first ever club event on Friday 30thAugust in Melbourne at Globe Alley. After a bumper 18 months, the Silverback team want to bring back the party atmosphere of yesteryear and you’re invited!

The monthly event will provide a platform for local, and interstate, live talent and up for it rock DJ’s playing a bastardised fusion of “every damn era of rock” Best of all, the event will always be free!

Speaking on the event, Silverback Director, Danny Bazzi said, “the time was right for this type of event and, in Melbourne particularly, where there remains a culture and appreciation of live music as well as a vibrant nightlife scene. Bringing the elements of live music and party vibes is something I have always wanted to do and the opportunity to do it in a like-minded venue, is too hard to pass up”.

Willaris. K
Known for his hypnotic and bass-driven soundscapes, Willaris. K has created a signature sound by seamlessly weaving together futuristic textures with organic field recordings and an incredible ear for detail and digital processing.  In his latest release ‘Cobaki Sky (Prequel)’, the Australian Tweed Coast producer uses a range of wistful loops and melancholic chord patterns to steep his track in deep emotion. The release is of stark contrast to the rhythmic plucks of ‘Natural Selection’, a heavier club-focused production.

The 2-tracker is the follow up to his debut EP Alchemy, a 7-track mini album that moves between thick industrial techno and sparse pensive melodic moments, exploring themes of transience, movement, darkness and currents. The EP saw Willaris. K break through with multiple tracks scoring rotation on triple j, and the single ‘Dour Nights’ named by Pete Tong as the Essential New Tune on Radio 1.

In 2017-18 McAllister played an unrivalled number of festival shows in Australia and NZ with over 25 live sets brimming with his trademark punk-influenced stage presence – all ahead of his international debut at Coachella last April, two sold out Australian headline tours seeing him move into 1,000 cap venues for the first time.

Looking back at last year’s inaugural Good Things Festival, it’s hard to not feel your engines revving once more; it was an absolute blast of a time. The greatest thing since Saturday morning cartoons, some have said. We aren’t sure who exactly, but some. Definitely. Surely.Good Things Festival and the crowd of hard-scheming Muttleys that made its 2018 event possible are thrilled to present you it’s 2019 line-up in all its finely tuned glory.

This year, Sydney fans will be marvelling at the spectacle from Good Things’ new Sydney digs at Centennial Park, a doosey of a course if there ever was one.

Good things come to those who wait…And now here they are…The astounding group of artists that assemble the 2019 edition of Good Things Festival.

The bands are approaching the starting line…

First, is the Incredible Ire driven by Parkway Drive, fresh from headlining major European Festivals and now headlining their first ever Australian touring festival playing their only Australian shows for 2019. It’s been 3 long years for fans, but the wait is finally over…in joint pole position is the Degenerates in A Day To Remember. Manoeuvring for position is the Mansfield Maniacs, Violent Soho for their only Australian shows of 2019. Right behind is no pads, no helmets, just the pop punk anthems of Simple Plan.

Then there’s Peddlers of punk the legendary Bad Religion. Next we have Simple Creatures with Mark Hoppus (blink-182) and Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low) followed by metal heavyweights Trivium, Australian surf rock royalty Skegss, Australian rock titans Karnivool and Enter Shikari. global pop superstars The Veronicas, the dynamic duo, and right on their tail is prog rock kings Coheed & Cambria.

And there’s Falling In Reverse with Dance Gavin Dance. Cruising along below is that Mean Machine with those double dealing do-badders Reel Big Fish, buzzing metal pop sensation Poppy, Thy Art Is Murder, Ice Nine Kills and Slowly Slowly. 

Rounding out this cavalcade of stars is some of the best young Australian bands on the circuit includingThe Bennies, Voyager, Yours Truly, Windwaker  and The Beautiful Monument and Gravemind.

And away they go… On the way-out Good Things Festival.

News: MONTAIGNE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘ READY’ NEW ALBUM COMPLEX OUT AUGUST 30 TOUR IN NOVEMBER

Following on from her national For Your Love single tour in April, Montaigne has today released her new single Ready, and confirmed details of her forthcoming LP and national tour.

Ready is undoubtedly Montaigne’s most anthemic single to date, and is lifted from her soon to be released second album entitled Complex, the follow up to her ARIA Award winning, Top 5 debut album, Glorious Heights. Complex is set for release on August 30 and is available to preorder now, with all preorders scoring a bonus illustrated poster.  There will also be a spectacular limited edition red vinyl of Complex available to preorder, along with CD/vinyl bundles with an environmentally friendly tote bag included.

To celebrate the new record, Montaigne will be hitting the road for her Complex album tour (presented by triple j) in November 2019, kicking off in Adelaide on November 7, then moving through Perth, Fremantle, Maroochydore, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Bendigo, Torquay, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and finishing up in Wollongong on November 30.  Montaigne has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket goes to support Bush Heritage Australia a national non-profit organisation conserving biodiversity in Australia. www.bushheritage.org.au

New single Ready is a heartfelt call to arms, a soundtrack for activism. There’s an undeniable element of pop to this song as Montaigne’s soaring vocals elevate the chorus, and the irresistible hook ‘I think I’m ready to go, I think I’m ready’, cycles like a mantra around shifting drumbeats.  However, like all of Montaigne’s music, there is a deeper element, a considered purpose for this song, as she explains,  “To me the song is about this political moment, where humanity is starting to realise how actually cooked this planet is, that it never had to be like this, and that we have the power now to overthrow those who’ve forced us into this corner. It’s music that I’m proud of representing, because I think that it reflects the feelings swirling around the current political shitfest my generation is facing, and it attempts to transform the anxiety amongst those feelings into angry power. It’s like a fuel source.”

Complex is certainly an accurate name for the articulate popstress’ second album.  Themes will range from loneliness, isolation, distorted love narratives, confused sense of self, the desire to escape, self-image issues and self-realisation. All these concepts interact and percolate amongst themselves on Complex, and Montaigne does a spectacular job of expressing herself with eloquence, passion and powerful vocal authority.  Speaking on the inspiration and work behind the album, she says, “The right songs all came together over a  couple of years and each song pertains to a different period of my life. It’s basically a series of portraits of all of my insecurities, or the weird relationships I’ve been in, or neurotic feelings I’ve felt while being attracted to others. The album’s like this veil behind which I stashed all these secrets I was keeping from myself.”

Montaigne worked with a wide range of producers on Complex, including long-time collaborator Tony Buchen (Courtney Barnett, The Preatures), Wynne Bennett (Twin Shadow, Janelle Monae), Kyle Shearer (Dua Lipa, Broods, K. Flay), Mozella (Madonna, Miley Cyrus, One Direction), Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals), Mario Späte (Tkay Maidza, Urthboy, Allday) and Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, St. Vincent, Dua Lipa).

Montaigne will be playing shows around the country in November to celebrate the release of Complex.  Her unique, theatrical and emotional  performance style never fails to impress. Fans should get in early to avoid disappointment.

News: Queen announce Australian Tour

The legendary Queen and Adam Lambert will be heading to Australia next year for a massive nationwide tour, following the mammoth success of the Freddy Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

It hasn’t been too long between drinks for Queen and their Aussie fans, as the band were last here just in 2018. But with the wild success of Bohemian Rhapsody, they’ve surely found themselves a whole slew of new fans who are ready to see hits like ‘We Are The Champions’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and, of course, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ performed live by the band fronted by electrifying Lambert.

It’s a tour of mammoth proportions, too. Brian May, Roger Taylor and Lambert will be playing six huge stadium shows, with brand new production. The ‘Rhapsody’ tour will kick off in Brisbane next February, before taking on Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Gold Coast.

It’s already been a big year for the band, having performed at the 2019 Academy Awards. Bohemian Rhapsody also won big that night, with Rami Malek’s portrayal of Freddie Mercury earning him the Oscar for Best Actor.

The Darkness will be spreading their Easter Is Cancelled message across the land with an Australian and New Zealand headline tour in March 2020. On a mission to lead us to the sunlit uplands of inclusivity, togetherness and rock’ n’ roll fellowship, The Darkness will play shows in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland.

The Darkness have also released today a new single Heart Explodes, taken from their jaw-droppingly ambitious quasi-sci-fi concept album.
