News: Clare Bowditch Shares New Video for Single ‘Woman’ and Adds Brisbane Tour Date

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Clare Bowditch today releases the video to her new single ‘Woman’.

WATCH THE ‘WOMAN’ VIDEO HERE

Clare says, “Forgive me if this sounds ridiculous, but I still can’t watch the “Woman” Film-clip without crying. It’s gratitude, I think.  Lucy Knox is a deeply gifted film-maker and her rendering of the story of the song is absolutely spot on. Here we are, all ages, nationalities, shapes and sizes, standing up, showing the world we are not here to play small. We are not here to please. This is just us. No apology needed. The courage and joy and ambition and defiance in the faces of these women fills my chest so big and so warm, and I think that’s where the tears come from.

Filmed in a warehouse in Melbourne, the very bold and engaging clip sees women of all ages and backgrounds take front and centre stage in a beautiful and light aesthetic, commonly seen in Clare’s previous video clips.

Director Lucy Knox says of the Woman clip, “Clare wrote a beautiful song that to me celebrated the strength of women, and as soon as I heard the song I knew I wanted to be part making of the music clip. I wanted to make something about and for, all women. On set, all the women in the video responded to and felt empowered by the songs lyrics. Like Clare’s own infectious energy, the lyrics allowed the cast to open up and celebrate their own strength in front of the camera.“

To support the release, Clare will also be playing shows in Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and newly added Brisbane, with the wonderful Alice Skye supporting at all shows except Newcastle. Join Clare for a beautiful night of music, humour and empathy. Bask in company of some of the very best people in the world: her audience. You will walk our feeling better than when you walked in.

News: 🌴 BOBBY ALU releases new single ‘Finally’ ahead of Bluestfest Sideshow support shows 🌴

BOBBY ALU
RELEASES VIBRANT THIRD SINGLE
‘FINALLY’
FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Upsizing from ukulele to guitar, tropical groovemaster Bobby Alu today releases ‘Finally’, the third sultry single from his forthcoming third album.

Laced with Alu’s warmth and laid back flair, ‘Finally’ channels his Polynesian culture’s respect for elders and explores the ageing process of dealing with an expanding mind as the body declines. Musically, the single sees Alu experiment with a slightly altered sound, pairing a slinky beat with simple yet spirited guitar and bass work, topped with his signature alluring vocal tone.

Alu himself admits the track was a change in his sound, “the final version of this song is quite different to the usual Bobby Alu sound, and I’m pretty proud of that. Making this song was kind of like getting old – we were really not sure what was going to happen.”

Whilst 2019 is looking to be a massive year for the Byron Bay folk star, 2018 was also full of hard work and many achievements for Bobby Alu. From performing at the Commonwealth Games before a 24-date Australasian headline tour, he then ventured around the globe with supporting roles on three European tours with John Butler Trio, Nahko & Trevor Hall and The Beautiful Girls (hitting festivals including Boardmasters (UK), MadNes (Netherlands) and Kleinlaut (Switzerland) along the way). Alu also had the honour of being the first to perform Parlour house shows in the US, before returning home to Australia to support reggae legends UB40 and The Beautiful Girls. 2018 also saw the release of QMA-nominated ‘Move’, as well as previous single ‘Other Side’, earning adds to attracted adds to Double J and ABC Local Radio.

Despite performing in the shadows as Xavier Rudd’s percussionist for some time, there’s no doubt that Bobby Alu is quickly becoming a household name in his own right. With an album prepped for release mid-2019, Alu is showing the world the unique pocket he has crafted through his years as both an instrumentalist and an artist.

Bobby Alu’s new single ‘Finally’ is out on all streaming platforms TODAY.

News: HARTS PLAYS HENDRIX – Special Live Performance Celebrating the Music of Jimi Hendrix

Award winning multi-instrumentalist and producer, Harts, presents special live HARTS PLAYS HENDRIX performance celebrating the musical legacy of Jimi Hendrix

“Harts is the real deal. He has the tools to lead a new generation that our world has never seen” – Austin Hendrix, nephew of Jimi Hendrix

The reverberations of Jimi’s singular expression of history, culture and social connection endures today as a new generation thrive on his music as a source of discovery and fulfilment. That same vivid spirit of song is still heard today in Australian musician Harts. Harts has garnered constant comparison to Hendrix with his expansive explorations of funk, rock, jazz, blues and psychedelia. Now having rocked Sydney Opera House steps and fresh from lighting up Triple J studios with Denzel Curry for Like A Version, Harts is set to electrify the Melbourne Recital Centre in May.

I’m very excited to be putting on this special show. Jimi’s music and playing has always been a big inspiration and influence on my own style as an artist and guitarist. It’s going to be a thrill paying tribute to the iconic music legend by performing and really showcasing his work in a show like this. I think Hendrix fans, Harts fans, lovers of classic rock and the guitar are really going to enjoy this show. – Harts

This premiere live performance celebrates the 50 year legacy of Jimi Hendrix and pays tribute to the anniversaries of his studio albums while bringing the distinct flair of his iconic performances as only Harts can. The show consists of a carefully curated setlist from Jimi’s entire catalogue, performed live by Harts in a powerful three-piece band experience, and guest appearances by some of Australia’s most beloved musicians. Details to come.

Darren Hart, professionally known as Harts, is an acclaimed musician, singer/songwriter, multi- instrumentalist and music producer. Over the years, Harts has established himself as one of Australia’s finest young musicians; composing, recording and producing studio albums, EPs and securing three #1 songs on Triple J, as well as being awarded a GQBreakthrough Artist Of The Year award in 2016.

News: Port Royal jump into the dating game in new music video for latest single Don’t You Forget About Me

PORT ROYAL JUMP INTO THE DATING GAME IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR LATEST SINGLE DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME

Port Royal are taking a chance on romance, diving into the world of speed dating in their flirtatious, upbeat new music video for their latest summery rock-pop jam Don’t You Forget About Me.

Port Royal may be out on their biggest tour yet but they aren’t letting that stop them from finding love in the new music video for their latest single Don’t You Forget About Me.

This rock quartet are taking their chances, joining a speed dating party to help find their true loves and letting their single set the perfect ambiance for romance to flourish.

“The themes and aesthetic of the song were taken to a whole new level in this clip and I think it conveys a beautiful vision of positivity and romance,” said lead vocalist Lawson Doyle.

Working once again with their all time favourite director Julian Squared, the band are thankful for having such an amazing team that created this ‘match made in heaven’ between the track and visuals.

“The incredible team we had behind the Don’t You Forget About Me music video meant every facet was treated with the upmost care and time. From Ashleigh in the art department to Sophie in the makeup, assistant director Sisi Stringer and Julian Squared’s ability to create a vision was quite incredible,” said Doyle.

Blending their signature rock and roll sound with a splash of summery pop, their team captured this video to overflow with optimism, acceptance, love and good times all around.

“There’s nothing more pleasurable than working alongside people who are working so hard for a dream both so similar and so complementary to our own. And it was truly just an honour to see them work with such skill at this thing they love,” said bass guitarist Chase Brodie.

ABOUT PORT ROYAL

United by a shared love of the attitude, aesthetic, and music of classic rock and roll culture, Brisbane’s Port Royal have been making waves in the local scene since mid-2015. Their mind-melting mix of electric live performances and blend of iconic 70’s rock influences complemented by contemporary and relatable lyrics makes for an unmistakably catchy sound that will have you singing along with every chorus. Heading into 2019, the band will release their latest single Don’t You Forget About Me and plan to embark on their biggest national tour to date. The song is a summer indie pop tune and somewhat signifies diversity from their traditional song writing roots.

MOTOR ACE
A FIVE STAR REUNION TOUR
SELLING FAST + SECOND MELBOURNE SHOW ABOUT TO SELL OUT

After announcing their highly anticipated return to the stage in 2018, much loved Aussie band Motor Ace are just weeks away from their massive reunion tour. Celebrating 20 years since the release of their hit album Five Star Laundry, the group will kick off the epic run of shows in Adelaide at The Gov on March 29, then moving through Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and finishing up in Melbourne at the renowned venue 170 Russell with a sold out show on April 12 and a second show on April 14 – which is also close to selling out. As a special treat for fans, exclusive Motor Ace content including demos from the Five Star Laundry session archives are expected to drop on Spotify Friday, March 8.

Within one month of being on sale, Five Star Laundry went gold in Australia. After that massive feat, it was months upon months of touring, performing, and making music for Motor Ace, with massive supports slots alongside Foo Fighters, Oasis and Blink-182. You couldn’t turn on a radio without coming across Motor Ace, and as sold out shows became the norm, their tracks became a mainstay on the ARIA charts. Their timely sophomore album Shoot This was released in 2002 to abundant critical acclaim. It spawned lead single Carry On that held the coveted #1 most played song on Australian airwaves for 8 weeks in a row, and Shoot This, debuting at #1 on the charts and achieving gold sales on release.

The band are thrilled to be back together to play hits and album faves from Five Star Laundry, and later albums Shoot This andAnimal, for fans all across the country, as lead singer Pat Robertson says, “The tour’s shaping up well and we all left our first rehearsal in 14 years pretty surprised and excited. The tour will be heavy with tracks from the early days and first record, Five Star Laundry, so hopefully that’s good news for the punters.”

With a few rehearsals under their belt, the band are feeling confident and ready to blow fans away, as Damo enthuses, “It’s great to be in a room with my brothers. We’ve been busy working on crafting the tunes into shape and honestly now, with a bit of age and ability, we’ve come out really happy with the results. Fans will be in for a massive surprise – we played Criminal Past for the first time in 14 years and it ripped the paint off the walls! We are putting everything into this. It’s gonna be a load of fun, can’t wait to get out there and celebrate with a sense of nostalgia and share the moment with everyone.”

Motor Ace are stoked to announce that some very special, never-before-heard demos from sessions spanning the band’s entire discography coming direct to fans, too, as the band have been delving deep into the archives to find some recordings that are sure to stir up those nostalgic vibes. The 10 track collection of demos from all three of Motor Ace’s albums will drop on Spotify on March 8. “It’s really cool to listen to the initial demos and to see where they ended up on the record after it had been produced,” says Damo. “I’ve found loads of footage from ages ago from touring, as well. We are going to release some unreleased demos that we did before the records were recorded, including Shoot This demos some of which sounds better than the official recording.”

Since disbanding all those years ago, the Motor Ace boys have been up to all those regular ‘life’ things – families, kids and jobs. But for what’s set to be an amazing few weeks of shows, the band are back together just like the good old days. Fans had better get in quick, though – these tickets are moving fast.

Motor Ace is Patrick Robertson (vocals, guitar), Dave Ong (guitar), Damo Costin (drums) and Matt Balfe (bass).

News: New Years Day Release Lead Single ‘Shut Up’ From New Album ‘Unbreakable’ Out April 26. Appearing At Download Festival Australia.

NEW YEARS DAY
RELEASE LEAD SINGLE, SHUT UP
FROM NEW ALBUM UNBREAKABLE OUT APRIL 26

APPEARING AT DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL AUSTRALIA

Shut Up was written in a day, which just doesn’t happen. I was going through some heavy personal stuff, and I was just, ‘don’t tell me what I want, shut up and give it to me,’” states frontwoman Ash Costello about the track.

Unbreakable, New Years Day’s 4th studio album was produced by Mitchell Marlow (All That Remains, In This Moment, Butcher Babies) and Scott Stevens (American Authors, Halestorm, Shinedown). The album is the follow up to the band’s 2015 LP, Malevolence, which hit #45 on the Billboard 200, thanks to the radio hits “Defame Me” and “Kill Or Be Killed.”

PRE-ORDER UNBREAKABLE HERE

Shut Up is the second song released from the LP, following last year’s wildly popular track, Skeletons. The song has been featured on Spotify’s “New Noise”, “Today We Rock”, “Nu Metal Tracks”, and “Rock Hard” playlists. Skeletons even made Pandora’s “Best of The Year for Rock” list after having only been released for a month. The band has raked in over 44 million U.S. streams to date and counting.

New Years Day will be appearing at Download Festival Australia this week.

ABOUT NEW YEARS DAY:
Formed in Orange County, Calif. by Ashley Costello, New Years Day shook the scene with their Century Media debut, Victim to Villain, in 2013 featuring their breakout single, Angel Eyes. The five-piece later cemented their place in the heavy music landscape with their Epidemic EP and critically-acclaimed Malevolence full-length in 2015, clocking more than 20 million views on YouTube. The band has since become the most visually-captivating group in modern rock, playing for millions of fans around the world, sharing the stage with Ozzy Osbourne, Halestorm, Nine Inch Nails, Escape The Fate, Hellyeah and Five Finger Death Punch while also headlining the longest-running touring festival, Vans Warped Tour, in 2017. As new challenges and new worlds beckon, the band released their most recent EP, Diary of a Creep, in January to pay tribute to the artists who shaped them thus far. The EP featured renditions of Garbage’s “Only Happy When It Rains,” New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” and their original track “Disgust Me”.
