News: THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN Announce March 2019 Australian Tour

Brothers William and Jim Reid led THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN to become pioneers of the post-punk notion. Like mad scientists, the brothers would concoct formulas of noisy, effects-driven scores to accompany lyrics of angst and discontent. This would be there modus operandi from their 1985 debut Psychocandy through to their most recent work, 2017’s Damage And Joy.

“JAMC has aged like a fine wine and are worthy of continued adoration. Their laid back coolness has only increased, making them the stuff of legends” (Inner Edge Music)

Maybe not so mad after all. The bands unique sound would make them a crucial part of any nutritious musical diet, with later groups including Nirvana and My Bloody Valentine tipping their hat to the incredible outputs ofThe Brothers Reid and cohorts.

“The noise IS the beauty. And it wasn’t Satan I was hearing through that clock-radio speaker. It was something close to God”

(The Quietus)

THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN took on many forms through the years, notably featuring Bobby Gillespie on drums, before he moved onto Primal Scream. THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN announced their split in 1999. The split would last until 2007, when the band reformed to perform at Coachella and have “continued on a stellar resurgence resulting in some of the best live gigs in the band’s history” (The Ginger Quiff)

“We’ve had an hour and 40 minutes of perfect, pure bliss in audio visual format, and real life sure seems dull now. The Mary Chain are still here, and they’re here to stay. Absolutely wonderful” (Outline)

THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN were ‘cutting-edge’ back in ‘85 and “now, thirty-something years on, as the feedback fades, the smoke clears and the years roll by, the band are as compelling as ever”. Their live shows are still a “spellbinding experience” with a setlist bursting with classics – Just Like Honey, April Skies, Head On, Darklands, Happy When It Rains, Some Candy Talking, Far Gone and Out, Reverence to name a few

Port Royal’s second EP, Love, Passion, Satisfaction features 5 tracks of potent, good time rock n roll that evoke the blues, basslines and hooks of rocks heyday while lyrically keeping it real with themes of equality and positivity.
The EP continues to get rave reviews and is turning up on retro playlists all over the place. Rock fans of all ages are fast becoming aware that there is this band out of Brisbane, delivering the tunes…

ABOUT PORT ROYALPort Royal proudly wear their vintage rock n roll influences on their tie dyed, flowing sleeves. In an era where everything old is new again, the quartet channel rocks forefathers and put them on display for a new generation to fall in love with.
The swing of the Stones, the riffage of Zeppelin and the psychedelica of latter day Beatles combine for a retro journey like no other. Sing alongs, good vibes and a feeling of innocence. Port Royal are the ultimate escape from modernity, back to a time where it really was all about the songs. Formed in 2015, they came out swinging with their first EP, The Express, in mid 2016 and hit the road playing with the likes of The Delta Riggs, Wolfmother and The Cherry Dolls and quickly built up a rep as a band to watch.
In 2017 they dropped the rocking Get Heavy. It’s Stooges like swagger saw it get voted in at #2 on 4ZZZ’s Hot 100 on New Years Day 2018 and the band toured the east coast again, gaining new fans at every show.
In April this year, Port Royal unleashed a belter in the form of Rock & Roll Is Dead. The track proves that rock is anything but dead. It’s loose, high octane retro goodness was the fuel for another east coast run that culminated in a sold out homecoming show!

News: AS A RIVAL RELEASE NEW SINGLE “COUP DE MAIN” ‘GRIEFERS’ ALBUM OUT NEXT FRIDAY

Coup De Main: “An attack that achieves complete surprise.”

As A Rival are today dropping surprise single ‘Coup De Main’ in anticipation of their brand new album ‘Griefers’ – out next Friday November 2 – and their album tour to Hobart in Tasmania, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne throughout November and into December.

Coup De Main was written while Pete was travelling through Europe. He found himself in London at the time of the 2011 riots. Seeing how the media was depicting rioters as the enemy, when their rage was a direct response to the treatment after the shootings. It was tense in the city and things were escalating. London was aflame. How can you ever be heard when you’re already the enemy?
Pete Cerni said that “The album has been a long time coming and the response to WHAT WE GOT has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s our best work to date, and we’re so ready to play it loud for you. This is a celebration and we want everyone there to sing along.
The ‘Griefers’ Album tour hits Tasmania on Saturday November 3rd in Hobart at The Brisbane Hotel, Saturday November 10th in Adelaide at Enigma Bar, Friday November 16th in Sydney at Hideaway Bar and then finishing in Melbourne at The Reverence Hotel Saturday December 15th. Tickets are on sale now and details can be found at http://asarival.com

Paul Treverrow, bassist for As A Rival can’t contain his excitement about getting the album out on the road. “I can’t wait to get out and play the whole album, It almost feels like sending your kid off to the first day of school, you love them and you just hope that all the other kids like them.”

Recorded at Homesurgery Recordings, the album was produced by Tom Larkin (Shihad) with Sam K Sproull and Jon Grace. The sessions started out with a challenge – complete 50 demos within a 2 month period. A challenge that was met with gusto. 50+ songs later having explored a myriad of styles touched on in previous releases, these sessions enabled As A Rival to hone their craft and evolve their sound. The result: a 12 song punk rock deluge, tackling themes of betrayal, deceit and defiance.

27 Listicle Series: Tyler Rivers

Perth-based R&B/soul singer, songwriter and producer Tyler Rivers, has made his mark upon the music industry from a young age. Gaining the attention of major labels and landing himself support slots on tours for Trey Songs and August Alsina whilst only having released 2 songs is an impressive feat on its own. Tyler Rivers has now returned with a new single ‘Take You’ that delivers a neon coloured fusion of R&B, hip-hop and pop accompanied by an equally rich and hypnotic music video.

Top 5 Producers by Tyler Rivers

1- Ninteen85  I really admire his dedication to the game and how far he has come in the producing world because of it. His constantly evolving and it’s paying off as he has with so many big names, and could arguably be the reason for Drake’s success second to Noah aka ’40’. My favourite track he has produced is OTW by Khalid ft. 6lack and Ty Dolla $ign

2 – Dr DreIt’s Dr Dre. Do I need to say more? My favourite track he has produced is California Love by 2Pac ft. Dr Dre and Roger Troutman

3 – Scott StorchScott is an absolute machine. He has produced some of the oldest and most classic hits, and could be credited for shaping the careers of so many artists. Also, his production range is so diverse. He has produced slow meaningful tracks but also more harder stuff too. My favourite track he produced is Let Me Love You by Mario

4 – Tank GodHe is a newcomer in the game but I can see so much potential in the work he has done so far. My favourite track he produced is Rockstar by Post Malone ft. 21 Savag

e5 – Fraan (my producer)
There so much potential and gonna be one of the best one-day. Also, he makes my tracks sound phat. My favourite track he has produced is on my upcoming EP so make sure to follow me on socials and stay tuned!
