You can chill to it. You can do anything to it. It makes you feel some type of way, or it makes you want to party. It just comes naturally.”   His recipe has yielded massive success so far. The Dallas native grew up listening to his dad’s Metallica, Johnny Cash, UGK, and The Notorious B.I.G. records before trading his Guitar Hero controller for an electric guitar at eleven-years-old. After graduating high school and releasing his first mixtape online, he picked up and headed west to Los Angeles, which would become his current home. Despite “partying too much” and not “having any money for cigarettes or Ramen,” the 19-year-old met production duo FKi and started making music.   “I wanted to create something everybody can get down to and get drunk to,” he continues. “People who like hip-hop will like it. 1. Hiking / Bush Walking-Well this is just a classic; but there are clear reasons why classics exist! A bit of fresh air and open space can do wonders for any relationship. You can chat about anything, whilst the combination of exercise and exposure to nature engages all the senses which produces endorphins which make you feel sublime. This is a must do over the coming summer break.

2. Being a lollypop crossing –  people to make sure students get home safely from school HEY! Who ever said helping the community isn’t cool and fun way to bond? Plus, you get a whistle and a stop sign. There are so many fun ways to use these props to have laugh with your friends. Can you imagine perfectly directing traffic whilst using your whistle to copy each other’s whistle rhythms. FUN. FOR. DAYS.Oh, and did we forget the inner satisfaction you get from making sure students get to go home to their families to have a lovely warm dinner.

3. Learning a new skill: we suggest ceramic potting or sand castle making. Overcoming new challenges with friends strengthens relationships quicker than you can sing the alphabet.  It’s as if your put in a friendship accelerator – strangers become acquaintances, friends become good friends and great friends become lifelong partners in the revolution to destroy the social inequality.

4. Gardening (Making a veggie Patch!)Is there any better feeling than growing your own produce? It’s that wholesome sensation when the salad you’re munching on has been grown thanks to the hard work of you and your friends. Activities and food bring people together and this activity combines the two. Start this journey with your friends and the soul of those friendships will flourish (just like those leafy greens).

5. Playing cards next to a fireplace after a long day surfing down the coast. We see that surfing might not be tempting for all, but for us, entering the serenity of the ocean and being engulfed by the refreshing water is something which we crave. We can clear our minds and just focus on catching a smooth ride in. After exhausting yourself, lounging around playing cards is a humble activity that tops off the day – it always produces an abundance of laughter and raw fun. Give it a shot!

To celebrate the release of –Anon.Hands Like Houses will launch the LP with a six-date national tour next year, bringing their electric energy and commanding, masterful performance-style around the country. Less than a year after forming, The Phazes unleashed their 2016 debut EP Holiday to a rapturous response. 2019 Summer Concert Series Line-up Announced!

The annual American Express Twilight at Taronga Summer Concert Series is a Sydney summer highlight, and in 2019 will feature live music across six weekends beginning on Friday February 1 until Saturday March 9 with a line-up for all ages.

Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc will take to the Twilight stage on Thursday February 21, just a few months after performing at the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018. Experiencing global success with his breakout song ‘I Need a Dollar’, Blacc followed it up writing and singing on Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ – the massive hit went on to top the charts in more than 100 countries.

Opening the series is a double shot of 90s Oz rock indie nostalgia with You Am I and Magic Dirt both playing a set on Friday February 1. Also enjoying success in the 90s were The Whitlams, and they make a welcome return to the American Express Twilight at Taronga stage on Friday February 8.

We’ll be treated to the much loved pop-rock songs from the Hoodoo Gurus on Saturday February 9, while multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd will perform his sublime and soaring indie-folk on Friday February 15. Recently celebrating their 25-year anniversary, the folk sounds of The Waifs will follow on Saturday February 16.

After years away from the stage Do Re Mi will be another highlight on Friday March 1, followed on Saturday March 2 by indie folk-rock band The Paper Kites. Vera Blue’s recently released debut album blends her folk past with bold, electronic pop and she will play on Friday March 8, before the Comedy Gala on Saturday March 9, led by the Umbilical Brothers.

Rounding out the American Express Twilight at Taronga series are annual favourites Bjorn Again and James Morrison, who will play on Saturday February 2 and Saturday February 23 respectively.

‘Gluttony A.D.’ was my last chance to purge all my psych-rock tendencies before I disembark. Full of phaser on guitars and drums. Heaps of reversed radio signal to make it sound like aliens broadcasting. This song is about electricity giving up and how much we rely on it, so all of this is perfect to paint the picture. The freak out in the middle is electricity on the fritz, lots of strange unsettling noises. I wanted a big prog-rock reprise right at the end where we have the power go out and I start a big acoustic finale.

Obviously written when I was in my Elliot Smith phase. When am I not though…? I love anytime I can make falling chords work underneath a melody and this verse is a great example of that. Had a lot of fun making the vocals fight politely. Also has this very “Rolling Stones” bridge that I purposely cooked with a major-to-minor thing. I really enjoy when albums have a really trad song right towards the end of an album. A bit of reprieve with a smile.

BLOODHOUNDS

This one is a really old song. I wrote it about 4 years ago whilst in another group. But once I started to see the trajectory this album was taking I knew I could rework it into a sultry 70’s vibe.I slightly changed some transitional parts to make the chords really hit. It’s a simple one that gives room for the chorus vocal line to shine.
