News: To The Grave: Sydney Deathcore Merchants Drop Video For Death By A Thousand Cuts + Announce New Festival Date

TO THE GRAVE
Sydney Deathcore Merchants Drop Video For
Death By A Thousand Cuts
Announce Additional Tour Dates

Sydney deathcore wrecking crew, To The Grave recently released their crushing new record, Epilogue via Unique Leader Records.

Today they unleash a brand new lyric video for the track, Death By A Thousand Cuts…

Watch it here!

Death By A Thousand Cuts is the slow process of slicing, the lingering of death until it dies…

This song is both an introspective response to appeals to futility from those unwilling to act and a depiction of the looming collapse of systematic slaughter. We each have a part to play in how the world ends up and this song analyzes both sides of the blood-stained coin. – To The Grave

News: Dirty Heads – Best Of Coming July 16 + “Vacation” Cracks 4 Billion User Generated Views!

DIRTY HEADS
‘The Best of Dirty Heads’ Arrives July 16
Includes Collabs With Travis Barker, Train, Aimee Interrupter
The Band’s Viral Hit “Vacation” Cracks 4 Billion User Generated Views!

Dirty Heads, the top-charting band that have been redefining the sound of Southern California since 2003, are reflecting on their massive career with the upcoming release of
The Best of Dirty Heads album, set for a July 16, 2021 arrival via Better Noise Music.

The album sees a track listing that contains some of the band’s biggest hits to date, including their unprecedented viral smash hit “Vacation,” the song behind the ubiquitous #VacationTransition challenge on TikTok that is approaching 2 BILLION views, and over 4 BILLION across all platforms.

Just last week, the band celebrated the song’s global success by releasing a new version with guest vocals from multi-Grammy winner Pat Monahan of Train.

With billions of streams to date across platforms, Dirty Heads have been inhaling alternative, hip-hop, reggae and rock and exhaling one irresistible, infectious anthem after another. They have released 7 studio albums, and have had 7 Top 20 hits including their RIAA gold-certified smash “Lay Me Down,” reached number one at radio in May 2010 and nine weeks later it established a record as the song with the longest stint atop the chart for an independently released title. “Lay Me Down” and “Vacation (Featuring Train)” will appear on the album, alongside a new collaboration with Travis Barker and Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters, giving fans a taste of what’s to come on their next full-length project.

The organic viral moment of “Vacation” and its accompanying #VacationTransition challenge trend has increased streams for the original track across all platforms by over 40%, with an increase of over 850% on Spotify alone, significantly increasing the band’s profile in international markets. It has earned the song introductions on over 36 viral international playlists, viral and pop playlists with massive global reach, 500% increase of Shazams, entry on the Shazam Global Top 200 Chart and TikTokDaily, Weekly & Trending videos, and all-time top track charts. It has consistently charted on Instagram Reels’ most used sounds globally, entering the top 10 list worldwide this spring. And most notably since January 2021, the song has over 3 BILLION consumption plays across all of Instagram and Facebook’s functions where users can play or add music.

The song continues to grow as the summer season starts. Since the release of the new version featuring Train last week, the song is reaching nearly 250 MILLION streams across platforms. It received nearly 1.5 MILLION radio impressions in the U.S. since Memorial Day Weekend, notably getting airplay on Elvis Duran’s morning show on NY: Z100/New YorkThe Zach Sang Show, both of which are nationally syndicated, and SiriusXM’s The Pulse.  In total, the song has been played on over 130 radio stations across the U.S. in the past week.

This massive increase in consumption for the song has introduced the band to millions of new fans across the globe, which sparked the idea for The Best of Dirty Heads album, giving the band the opportunity to take a retrospective look at their impressive career catalogue.

News: JORDAN WILSON ANNOUNCES DEBUT SOLO SINGLE & VIDEO TOTEM

“In stark difference to the uplifting indie-pop Georgia Fair are known for, ‘Totem’ brings us a new, darker side of Wilson’s songwriting, showcasing a more vulnerable, more moving Wilson than we’ve previously seen” ROLLING STONE AU

Treasured Aussie songwriter Jordan Wilson, of Georgia Fair, has today announced his debut solo single Totem, a moving piece of music reflective of both a past relationship and the sacred process of writing itself, out today – June 10. Totem is accompanied by a sweet, nostalgic video, directed by Odin Umeofia. In between launching his solo project, and working on a new Georgia Fair record, Jordan is also set to release a book entitled Some Short, Some Long, in late 2021.

Produced by Daniel Lee Kendall, Totem is a contemplative track, to say the least. It steps outside of the immediacy of heartbreak to analyse the sanctified act of songwriting as a healing process, as a reason, as a way to understand thoughts, actions, feelings. Evocative of the brilliant songwriting of Aldous Harding and Mark Kozelek, Totem is a layered, masterful piece of music. The gentle, comforting strumming of the acoustic guitar leaves plenty of space for Jordan’s understated yet undeniably moving voice to take centrestage – imploring the audience to really listen to the lyrics.

Speaking on the inspiration behind it, Jordan reflects, “This song is about a long relationship that ended pretty abruptly and quickly, and it created a real sense of loss and confusion in my life – but music helped to mitigate the void that it created, in some kind of way. It helped me stay connected to something higher. The idea is that the process of writing, and the song itself, is the Totem – something that you can use to hang on to and worship, so to speak.”

The video for Totem is brighter than one might think, after considering the subject matter of the song. Highly saturated colours abound as Jordan dances somehow both with rigidity and serenity in a classically Australian backyard, complete with Hills Hoist clothesline and greyhound companion. Despite its light exterior, though, there is a darkness to the clip too, as Jordan explains, “I came up with the concept with my brother Lavrence. In the clip I am ripping out a bunch of pages from some classic literature – sort of showing the pursuit of self-discovery through the human language. Then there’s a beautiful release where I string up all the pages on the Hills Hoist and ‘air it out’, so to speak…with the leaf blower.”

A deep thinker and creative soul to the core, Jordan Wilson is currently juggling his new solo project alongside album sessions with Georgia Fair and the upcoming release of his first book. Some Short, Some Long will be released in late 2021 and includes several short stories, one longer story and poems with illustrations to match.

Totem is out today, June 10. Listen: TOTEM Watch: TOTEM

News: SARAH BLASKO RELEASES 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF ‘AS DAY FOLLOWS NIGHT’ DELUXE REISSUE AND EP ‘CINEMA SONGS’ NOW ON STREAMING SERVICES

SARAH BLASKO RELEASES 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF ‘AS DAY FOLLOWS NIGHT’ DELUXE REISSUE AND EP ‘CINEMA SONGS’ NOW ON STREAMING SERVICES
Today Sarah Blasko finally releases her rare EP ‘Cinema Songs’ on digital services. Recorded in 2009 around the time she released her acclaimed album As Day Follows Night. ‘Cinema Songs’ is a six-song EP that celebrates Blasko’s love of classic cinema. Each song is a stripped-back piano-led ballad which shines a light on the extraordinary interpretive skills of one of Australia’s finest performers.

LISTEN TO ‘CINEMA SONGS’ HERE

Prior to today, these songs were only available to European audiences through a deluxe release of As Day Follows Night more than 11 years ago, but now Blasko fans can finally access the recordings and hear a universe of movie-themed songs that Sarah herself has loved throughout her life.

“Cinema Songs is a bunch of songs from musicals I love growing up that I thought would make a nice addition to the As Day Follows Night Deluxe version all those years ago. Jim Moginie and I wanted the recordings to sound like we were playing them in a little piano bar somewhere. I’m fully aware that ‘If I Only Had A Brain’ was a ridiculous choice, that’s why I didn’t release it widely the first time around, but here it is in all its glory! Enjoy!”

Tracklist

Xanadu (from Xanadu)
Seems Like Old Times (from Annie Hall)
Maybe This Time (from Cabaret)
If I Only Had A Brain (from The Wizard of Oz)
Something Good (from The Sound of Music)
Out Here On My Own (from Fame)

Today also marks the day (after a year of COVID-related vinyl plant shut downs) that the complete deluxe vinyl reissue of As Day Follows Night (also featuring Cinema Songs on vinyl) hits stores. Released on Dew Process in July 2009, As Day Follows Night represents a high watermark in Australian songwriting. It won the 2009 J-Award for Australian Album Of The Year, and also took out the ARIA Award for Female Artist Of The Year. The album, which features favourites such as ‘All I Want’, ‘We Won’t Run’ and ‘Bird On A Wire’, went on to achieve platinum certification and was listed at #19 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums, the highest placed record by a female artist.

LISTEN/BUY ‘AS DAY FOLLOWS NIGHT (DELUXE EDITION)’ HERE

Blasko has described the album as a “hopeful heartbreak” record. It’s a collection of songs which inhabits a rare sonic universe created over 5 magical days in Sweden with producer Bjorn Yttling.

News: Ladyhawke returns to Australia for ‘Time Flies’ tour this Oct & Nov | New single & album announced!

RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA FOR TIME FLIES TOUR
THIS OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
+ NEW SINGLE & ALBUM ANNOUNCED!

Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce Ladyhawke (Pip Brown) will bring her Time Flies Tour to Australia this October and November. Returning to our shores for the first time in five years, Ladyhawke will take in venues along the East Coast, from Brisbane’s The Triffid through the Gold Coast, Sydney, finishing at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel.

Pip says of hitting the road in Australia later this year —

“It seems unreal to be announcing a tour after the last year we’ve all had, but since the travel bubble has been announced I’m able to now tour Australia! This is honestly something I couldn’t see happening for ages, so here it is!! I’m doing some shows!! I hope to see you all soon!!”
Also unveiled today is ‘Mixed Emotions’, the second single to be lifted from Ladyhawke’s anticipated new studio album Time Flies, released on 8 October (BMG). Penned with Jono Sloan and Nick Littlemore (both of PNAU, Empire of the Sun), ‘Mixed Emotions’ is a vibrant synth-heavy dancefloor filler that throws back to Ladyhawke’s classic sound.
Pip says about the new single, “Mixed Emotions was written with old mates Jono Sloan and Nick Littlemore while I was on a writing trip in LA. Sloan had come up with a really cool bass groove which Nick and I riffed over to get the lyrics and melody. The song is about all the things you can feel with one person, sometimes all in a single day. Ups and downs, confusion, highs, and lows. And everything in between!”
Released in March, lead album single ‘Guilty Love’ featuring BROODS signifies Ladyhawke’s comeback anthem. One of triple j’s Most Played songs of March/April, the track has been embraced by tastemakers globally and chalked up over 1 million streams.

From her early days playing in Wellington band Two Lane Blacktop and Sydney act Teenager (formed by Nick Littlemore), Pip Brown’s knack for writing a catchy pop hook has garnered her global recognition. Coupled with 80’s rock-chic ambiance, Pip quickly made a name for herself under the moniker Ladyhawke, releasing her debut self-titled album in 2008. Boasting electro-pop gems ‘My Delirium’, ‘Paris Is Burning’, ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ and more, the record made waves internationally and was followed by 2012’s Anxiety, which Rolling Stone described as “a buzzsaw-sharp pop-rock album, full of hard-charging hooks”.

Since the release of her latest album, 2016’s acclaimed Wild Things, Pip has experienced major life moments; she’s married, given birth to a daughter, been diagnosed and treated for skin cancer and decided to make the courageous move and deal with the ongoing depression she has suffered head on.

“It felt like last year I changed my whole life. I decided to try medication for the first time, and it turned everything around and made me feel like I haven’t in a long time.”
After a quiet 2020, like much of the world, Ladyhawke is ready to return to the live stage.

With an impressive live performance that showcases her “undeniable talent” (Louder Than War), it’s impossible to stand still at a Ladyhawke show.

“Ladyhawke coaxed an irresistible impulse that galvanised the crowd’s energy.”
The UpComing (UK)

“Big, lovable and expertly crafted tunes… blistering choruses fizzing with charisma.”
– The Guardian

“The music was exhilarating, uplifting… the energy is buzzing.” – Backseat Mafia

With accolades under belt including multiple ARIA and New Zealand Music Awards, along with nominations for Brit, MTV and NME Awards, Ladyhawke is a force to be reckoned with. Playing intimate rooms on her Australian return, music lovers best get in quickly when tickets go on sale on June 4.
