WEIRD FISHES ANNOUNCE LATEST MANAGEMENT SIGNING, RAGEFLOWER

Following a breakout first-year of operation, today Australian Artist Manager of the Year Nominees, Weird Fishes, announce their latest management signing, RAGEFLOWER.

The first new signing since the Weird Fishes launch in August 2025, the RAGEFLOWER signing is a huge coup for the company with much-justified hype surrounding Madeleine Powers (aka RAGEFLOWER) following her stand-out performance at BIGSOUND last year, with her two break out singles, Desk Job and current single, Control both receiving high-rotation on triple j.

Excited to welcome RAGEFLOWER to the Weird Fishes family, co-founder Aidan McLaren said, “RAGEFLOWER is without doubt the most exciting new artist we have seen in the last few years. The creativity, the songwriting, the captivating live show, the connection, it’s all there. What Maddy is creating is something really unique, very special and strikingly authentic. We couldn’t be more pleased than to be joining the team to help bring the RAGEFLOWER world to life, and to bring it to people around the globe”.

“There’s a magnetic intensity to RAGEFLOWER that you just don’t see every day,” says Alanna Vullo. “She isn’t afraid to push boundaries or bare her soul, and the result is art that genuinely moves people and leaves a lasting mark. We are absolutely thrilled to step in as her management team and back such a fiercely creative talent”.

Having only performed two headline-shows in Australia (both selling out in advance), but with some impressive support tours under her belt (including The Temper Trap and The Darkness), the glowing live reviews have both the music industry and the general public taking notice.

RAGEFLOWER recently signed to Select Music (Rob Giovanonni) for Australian live bookings and has also grabbed the attention of UK industry legend Paul Wilson and Nikos Kazoleas of CAA who have joined the team for UK/European live bookings. Paul Wilson books Sam Fender, Lianne La Havas, Tracey Chapman, Dermot Kennedy. Kazoleas spent more than a decade as a music agent at UTA, working with artists such as Sombr, GAYLE, Rebecca Black, Trixie Mattel, BANKS, Joshua Bassett, and more.

Assisting on day-to-day management alongside Aidan McLaren will be the newest Weird Fishes team member, Alanna Vullo, who joined the company late last year.

RAGEFLOWER’s latest single, Control is out now, a new single Push Pin is coming next week and her second EP is slated to drop later this year.

It’s been a wild nine months since Aidan McLaren, Joe Miles and Rhett McLaren launched their independent artist management company, and their artists’ achievements during that time have been impressive.

“What a first 9 months! Aside from being six of the busiest/most intense months of our careers, it has also been six of the most rewarding,” says Aidan McLaren. “Two #1 Australian Artist Albums, one #2 Australian Album, some of our artists’ highest headline ticket-sales across multiple countries, mainstage slots on some of the biggest and best festivals in the world, millions of streams, many meaningful moments and memories, and most-importantly, getting to do it all with awesomely talented, hardworking, amazing, creative people from all over the world that we feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to call colleagues, partners, artists and friends.”

Boy & Bear secured the ARIA #1 Australian Album (released independently) in December, and performed the biggest headline show of their career at the iconic Sydney Opera House Steps to over 5,500 people.

The Dreggs performed to massive crowds and conjured many sing-a-long moments across their mainstage slots at Spilt Milk Festival (headlined by Kendrick Lamar), and Strumming Bird Festival (headlined by Jelly Roll), as well as across their debut North American tour, and they’re currently recording the best songs they’ve ever written.

Steph Strings has clocked over 1 million socials followers, released her stunning debut album (landed #2 on the Australian artist album chart earlier this year) and was announced on leading international festivals including Bonnaroo, Summerfest and Borderlands. She’s currently playing sold out headline shows all over the world.

Pete Murray released his first independent album in over 20 years, landing at #1 on the Australian artist album charts. Pete sold more headline tickets than ever over the past 12 months and continues to build substantial growth and momentum across socials and streaming platforms. He will be touring the Netherlands, UK and Canada later this year (for the first time in years).

Tim Hart’s (Boy & Bear) last two solo EPs have had more than 4.5million streams across Spotify and Apple worldwide. And as a producer, Tim is quickly gaining attention both locally and internationally having produced Steph Strings’ debut album, as well as Stu Larsen’s upcoming album and more than 10 other artist singles, just in the last 6 months alone.

Sydney Comedy Festival Review: Guneet Kaur: Sharp

Guneet Kaur: Sharp

01/05/26

Enmore Theatre Sydney

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars

Tucked into the tiny Whipbird Wine Bar at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Guneet Kaur delivered a performance that was deeply personal and sharply observant in her Sydney Comedy Festival show, Sharp.

The small nook of a venue is an intimate space and with every seat filled it’s the kind of setting that leaves nowhere to hide, for performer and audience alike, making it the right space for a show built around vulnerability and confrontation.

Guneet commanded attention with her clear and confident delivery, even as the material itself revealed the anxieties sitting at the centre of the show. Wearing a pointed black “Madonna” bra she opened by explaining that the show’s title Sharp came from reviews she had received in the past. A fitting introduction for a performace that cuts directly into identity, insecurity and expectation.

Across the show she moved through themes of sexual fluidity; autism; anxiety around her mother’s pressure to have children (and her mother in laws pressure to not); and her complicated relationship with language, particularly her inability to properly speak fluid Punjabi. These subjects could easily become heavy in lesser hands, but Guneet’s self-depreciating humour kept the room buoyant, drawing consistent laughter from the audience while never losing the emotional honesty underneath.

Sharp feels intentionally like a collage of social, cultural and personal anxieties that different people will connect with in different ways. Some relating to family pressures, others to the awkwardness of identity, and others simply to the quiet panic of trying to understand yourself in public.

The show closed with one final visual punch: Guneet stripped down to a white bra with the words “I’m Shy” scrawled in black sharpie across the cups. It was funny, disarming, and representative of the contradictions that shaped the boldness wrapped around vulnerability performance.

At the end of the show, she thanked the audience for choosing her show among the more than 700 performances that make up this year’s Sydney Comedy Festival. It was a fitting reminder that among such a crowded program, Sharp stands out not because it tries to have all the answers, but because it is willing to sit honestly inside the questions.

The Sydney Comedy Festival runs until Sunday 17 May.

At Midnight Tonight (AEST) Louis will premiere a special live video to the track ‘Sunflowers’, which was filmed on his recent European tour – Watch Here

For his third album Louis pushed himself as a lyricist, songwriter, and performer, holding nothing back on these tracks. Though he certainly doesn’t have to prove himself, it’s clear that he still writes music, plays shows, and sings as if everything is on the line. In the studio, restless creativity and a hunger for artistic exploration drive his process. Live, he leaves everything on the stage as sold-out crowds meet him head-on with the same amount of enthusiasm and energy. As a writer, he’s diving deeper into who he is than ever before.

First single ‘Lemonade’ was playlisted by Radio 1, Radio 2 and Capital in the UK, and Louis performed the track on Radio 1’s Live Lounge alongside a cover of Hozier’s ‘Too Sweet’.  Second release ‘Palaces’ received critical acclaim from Clash Magazine calling it “A terrific, finessed piece of melodic indie, with a real sense of theatre and drama to the vocal.” Louis performed the track in an ‘Amazon Music Presents’ session and headlined Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball at The O2 in London.

The slick and soulful single ‘Imposter’ followed which was both a ‘Hottest Record’ and an A List track for Radio 1, with Louis performing the song on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ in the USA. New single ‘Sunflowers’ sees Louis’s breathy vocals practically hover across the track, whilst vibrant guitars echo. He delivers a plea on the ethereal chorus, “Won’t you take me where all the sunflowers are hiding?”.

Since their inception, UK based quartet Static Dresshave been one of the most consistently incendiary names in modern alternative music. Creating visuals, graphic novels (with accompanying soundtracks) and video games that act as narrative connectors for a noirish lore running throughout their musical output, the band have subverted expectations of the traditional band blueprint at every turn, winning multiple awards and heading out on tours with the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, UnderoathKnocked Loose and more in the process. Their debut album Rouge Carpet Disaster proved to be a watershed moment for contemporary post-hardcore; a rare debut that was as enticing as it was barbed, helping to ignite a new flame within the genre. Last month, they announced their highly anticipated sophomore album injury episode, due for release on 29th May via Sumerian Records.

Today Static Dress return with ‘…hospice’; a track that places an often unheard side to the band’s ambition in plain view, presenting them as you’ve never heard them before.

Watch the video HERE

Stream the track HERE

Following on from the 1-2 punch of modern post-hardcore masterpieces ‘human props’ and ‘Nostalgia Kills’ featuring scene legends Underoath, ‘…hospice’ revels in dynamism through uplifting emotion rather than jagged abrasiveness. A perfectly crafted cut of alternative pop, ‘…hospice’ exhibits the maturity of Static Dress’ songcraft; connecting with the listener through a lush, expansive instrumental that builds and unfurls gradually towards a stadium-sized chorus that’s purpose built to be sung at the sky. It’s a refreshing change of pace from a band whose only predictable trait is to keep their audience guessing, and an intriguing taste of just how eclectic a world they have built within their forthcoming album, injury episode.

The track’s self-directed visual finds Static Dress soundtracking a dark fantasy that’s locked in a space between the past and the present. Performing within a grand hall, vocalist Olli Appleyard occupies the purgatorial space between alternate realities as a masked figure searches for genuine emotion, bending the rules of what’s possible within the physical realm within their hunt.

With the release of ‘…hospice’, Static Dress confound the sonic expectations placed in front of them, writing one of the most impactful examples of contemporary emo in the process. A track that feels destined to fill arenas sooner rather than later, ‘…hospice’ and injury episode find a band tearing up the blueprint of their own formula to expand their own horizons and provide one of the most uniquely rewarding listening experiences you’ll find from an alternative album all year.

In essence, injury episode is one of global alternative music’s most mysterious and forward-thinking bands tearing down the veil and showing the world that in an era of homogenised studio sleight of hand, the most subversive thing you can do is present your truth in raw, unflinching and real fashion. There is, after all, nothing more imaginative and complex than undiluted human emotion.

Static Dress has built a unique, fantastical world across audio, visual and narrative building. When that world has become so enormous that it enveloped the band’s own personal lives, the natural evolution of that situation is to cross-pollinate real-life experiences with the cinematic, foreboding world of Static Dress. injury episode is the result

News: MUSE RELEASE NEW SINGLE “CRYOGEN” + TENTH ALBUM THE WOW! SIGNAL ARRIVES JUNE 26

MUSE RELEASE NEW SINGLE “CRYOGEN

TENTH ALBUM
THE WOW! SIGNAL ARRIVES JUNE 26

Credit: The WOW! Signal artwork

GRAMMY® Award-winning English rock titans MUSE release their fiery new single, Cryogen,”out now on Warner Records. Listen HERE. The explosive track is the third taste of the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album, The Wow! Signal, which they announced in a broadcast from space last month and is due to impact Earth on June 26.Pre-order HERE.

Cryogen is urgent and explosive across its entire five minutes. After a squelching intro, MUSE let loose a sky-scraping spiral of guitar before plunging into a roiling pool of smashing drums, grinding bass, and dramatic vocals. Throughout it all, Matt Bellamy paints a vivid picture of a man so deep in the thrall of another that he’s envisioned his tormentor as a frozen moon of Jupiter, and himself as a lost speck on the surface: “Winter’s end, she’s Europa, I’m a cracked interloper / Icicles pierce my heart so cruel and quiet / Loneliness, she left me trembling in a polar desert / Wilderness, I’m breaking.” The falsetto-streaked chorus spells out the narrator’s doom: “Cryogen, I can never cry again / Cryogen, I’m freezing over.”

Despite the frigid theme, Cryogen is all fireworks, all the time. The song was written and produced by MUSE with Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182) — who performs keys and additional guitar in the MUSE live band — with additional production from Aleks von Korff. That’s the same team behind March’s hopeful lead single “Be With You,” a powerful swirl of driving electronica and searing stadium rock that DORK predicted will “undoubtedly become a euphoric festival favorite in the summers to come.”

MUSE literally launched Be With You from space for their The Wow! Signal announcement (see a snippet HERE), beaming back footage of the music video streaming on a specially designed tablet 20 miles up into the atmosphere. The cinematic visual directed by Nico Paolillo (Deafheaven, BAD OMENS) and starring Ella Balinska (The Occupant, Resident Evil) offers instant immersion into the universe of the album. While the announcement was widely covered by the likes of Pitchfork, NME, Consequence, Kerrang!, and Billboard, “Be With You” earned 3 million global streams in the first week and became the #1 Most Added at Alternative Radio, where it has since climbed to #9.

Following the album news, MUSE made a grand live return to London with a special performance at the 5,000-capacity O2 Academy Brixton, a room they hadn’t played since 2001. The show won rave reviews from outlets including The Times (five stars), Kerrang! (“MUSE don’t miss”), and NME, who noted that fans had camped out overnight to secure a spot close to the stage. The publication also turned in an early review of Cryogen,” which MUSE debuted that night: “A blast of classic MUSE harking back to their ’00s days with wailing riffs, [an] arena-destroying chorus, and painting an apocalyptic sci-fi landscape.”

MUSE also performed fan-favorite The Wow! Signal track Unravelling,” which they released last year to instant acclaim and a flurry of album rumors. With arpeggiated synths that crash into a colossal wall of barbed riffs, the single racked up praise from outlets including Rolling Stone (“transcendent”) Guitar World (“endlessly gratifying”), and DIY Magazine, who lovingly called the song “balls-to-the-wall maximalist.”

The music and visuals that MUSE have released so far are revealing the new album’s themes bit by bit. The Wow! Signal takes its name from one of the most compelling interstellar mysteries of the last century: a powerful 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 originating from the constellation Sagittarius with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source. The astronomer who discovered the anomaly famously circled the now-iconic sequence “6EQUJ5” and wrote “WOW!”on the printout beside it — giving the signal its name and cementing its place in scientific and pop-culture lore.

With every additional transmission from The Wow! Signal, we get a stronger sense of the forces powering MUSE’s new era: a mix of cosmic mystery, existential hope, and the exhilarating possibility of contact with something far greater than ourselves. Connect with MUSE at one of the dates below.

News: Frankenbok: Australian Metal Legends To Release New Album On May 29 First Single, F.A.F.O, Out Now

FRANKENBOK
Australian Metal Legends To Release New Album On May 29
First Single, F.A.F.O, Out Now

Here comes Frankenbok! Bigger and Better then ever. This new album is FRANKENBOK at their Best!
Tim McLean-Smith XMusic’s Big Boss

Australian Metal legends, Frankenbok, will drop their brand new album, The Arriba War Honkle on May 29 via XMusic.

To give you a taste, the first single is a blinder and is aptly titled, F.A.F.O

“F.A.F.O.” is a raw, unflinching dive into the disposable whirlwind of modern dating. With razor-sharp riffs and biting satire, the track skewers Tinder culture, one-nightstands, and the dangerous silence around STDs. It’s a piss-take on “safe sex,” but beneath the chaos is a hard-punching message we can’t afford to ignore. And yeah—if we offend a few pricks along the way, so be it. Fuck everyone. No pun intended.

Listen to F.A.F.O here
https://lnk.to/y5vqmS

The music Frankenbok creates is one embracing heaviness, humour and brutality; something like nude wrestling in a maximum security wing! Frankenbok boast a diverse sound and are unafraid to try anything and are ALWAYS impulsively applying that to their craft.

Originally formed in the summer of 1997 but since 2002, Frankenbok have sadly had a curse of  revolving door musicians… October 2024 saw the return of their original vocalist  Adam “Hutch” Glynn, Founding member and Guitarist Azza Bok,  Drummer Tom Rossell and bassist Owen Spratling; complete the current line up!

Since Glynn’s return, The band signed to a new record label, XMsuic, and have wasted no time!
January 31st 2025 saw the release of IRREPRESSIBLE” and the band then hit the road with ALIEN ANT FARM and DROWNING POOL for their 2025 Australian Tour as their support act.

Angela Croudace of HEAVY MAG Australia described Frankenbok as“the ugly love child of Faith No More and The Red Hot Chili Peppers with a healthy dose of metal and a sprinkle of pure madness tossed in for good measure!”

The band have a new release entitled “THE ARRIBA WAR HONKLE” dropping May 29, 2026

News: DIMMU BORGIR Unleash Ferocious New Single & Video ‘Ascent’ + New Album GRAND SERPENT RISING Out On May 22

DIMMU BORGIR Unleash Ferocious New Single & Video ‘Ascent’ + New Album GRAND SERPENT RISING Out On May 22

Norwegian extreme metal titans DIMMU BORGIR have officially announced their long-awaited new studio album, Grand Serpent Rising, set for release on May 22 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Returning to the studio in Gothenburg, the band once again joined forces with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordström, the mastermind behind some of DIMMU BORGIR’s most revered works, including Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon. The result is a record that captures the band’s signature blend of symphonic grandeur and unrelenting aggression, while pushing their sound into darker, more commanding territory.

Today, DIMMU BORGIR unveil the second single from the album: ‘Ascent’. Striking like lightning across a frozen northern sky, the song is a ferocious statement of intent—aggressive, vicious, and twistedly beautiful. ‘Ascent’ delivers a chilling reminder that DIMMU BORGIRremain at the height of their powers, embodying the intensity, menace, and authenticity that have defined their legacy.

The track arrives alongside a visually arresting, “in your face” music video that amplifies the song’s raw energy and atmospheric darkness.

Shagrath comments on the track:” Musically, ‘Ascent’ is more ferocious and direct than the first single, ‘Ulvgjeld & Blodsødel.’ Together, the two tracks showcase the musical scope of the album in a great way. From the outset, we’ve said that Grand Serpent Rising stands as one of our most diverse records to date, and these songs underline exactly that.”

Silenoz adds: ‘Ascent’ is about the grand serpent rising through your spinal cord. It is not a pretty experience but it is a necessary one – in order to reach higher consciousness and levels of understanding. It’s a voyage of transformation and surrender.

‘Only he who knows fear but overcomes it can be fearless; he who sees the abyss with pride. He who sees the abyss with eagle eyes; he who grasps the abyss with eagle claws; he is courageous.’ – Nietzsche

The album comes in following formats:

STRAY VIEW SHARES OF THE NEW TRACK:

“The song explores the experience of having to let go of something that you love. Sometimes in life, things that are beautiful and close to you can also be the same things that are keeping you from being the person you know you need to be. We reference the metaphor of a butterfly as a way to portray the duality of their beauty and fleeting nature.” – Dave Escamilla
